FLYNN, Mrs. Linda Garnett Kersey - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mrs. Flynn will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Monday. Ms. Linda Garnett Kersey Flynn was born May 31, 1942 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of William and Johnelle (Green) Kersey. She was a 1964 graduate, of Flint Central High School. Ms. Flynn retired from the United States Postal Service in 1997, after 31 years of service, and was a proud member of the American Postal Workers Union Flint Area Local. Among her many loves was movies, traveling, golfing and spending time with family and friends. She was a former and founding member of Christ the Liberator Presbyterian Church. Ms. Flynn accepted Christ at a young age and was a dedicated member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she served on the Hospitality, Women's Outreach and Maintenance Staff Ministries. She also served with various other auxiliaries including: Three Score and More, the Golden Voices Senior Choir, Grace Unity Bible Class, Morning Devotion Ministry and Pastor's Prayer Partners. Ms. Flynn was a member of the Red Hat Society, "Fabulous Redds" Chapter and the ABWA NuLite Chapter. Ms. Linda Garnett Kersey Flynn leaves to cherish wonderful memories: 3 daughters, Robin and Crystal Flynn of Flint and Sheila Flynn of Tampa, FL; son, Dana (Muzette) Flynn of Fairfield, CA; 6 grandchildren, Quinyada Hawkins, Kerstin and Taylor Flynn, all of Flint, Morgan and Dana Flynn, both of Chicago, IL, Perri Flynn of Fairfield, CA; devoted sister, Maureen Kersey of Flint; nieces, Leslie (Keith) Willingham of Atlanta, GA, Shawn Kersey of Phoenix, AZ; nephews, Michael and David Kersey of Flint; special cousins, Robin (Billy) Fields of Flint and Joanne (Pete) Reed of Phoenix, AZ,Craig (Kelly), Mark Fields, Kim (Darryl) Williams, and Troy Reed; sisters-in-law, Martha Burnett and Charlene Cabine; brothers-in-law, Ollis and Richard Flynn all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Alicia Powell, Teresa Fowler, Sundra Robinson, Billy Hudson, Thelma Byers, Eylastine Green-Roberts and Izora Eldridge. Ms. Linda Garnett Kersey Flynn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruby Harden; parents, William and Johnelle Kersey; aunt, Robin Owens; uncle Wendell Owens.
