BUTLER, Pastor Linda Mae - Age 77, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, in Texas. Family hour 10:30 AM Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Victorious Word Church, 3560 Beecher Rd., with funeral services commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Rodney Murphy, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Thursday. Pastor Butler will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday, with family present from 4:00PM-6:00PM. Pastor Linda Mae Butler was born January 14, 1948, in Rockford, IL to Thomas & Lee Bertha Murphy. Linda graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1966.” Linda was a proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Robbie & Stacy, and an ordained minister. She chose a career of service to others, going on to become a Registered Nurse, helping others and being a blessing at Genesee Memorial Hospital, Hurley Hospital, and retiring from Genesys Hospital, with a career that spanned over four decades. Linda was a woman of unwavering faith, deep compassion for others, gentle strength, and a true soldier in the Army of the Lord. She lived her life in complete devotion and service to God, her family, and her community. She joined the Army of the Lord in the late 70’s and was dispatched to serve at the 12th Street Church of God. She was also a faithful servant at both Montrose Church of God, and Destiny Generation Church, where she was the Assistant Pastor. Lastly, she served at Victorious Word Church. Linda was full of zeal about her relationship with God and lended her many gifts and talents wherever they were needed. A soldier who could “sang”, her beautiful voice will always be remembered at many church and family functions, and especially the annual Murphy Family Christmas Eve sing-along. As a woman of faithfulness, she served in many roles, including choir director, armor bearer, Bible teacher; and spiritual leader, who often assisted with funerals for those who had no church home or pastor. She was a prayer warrior, known for her kind words and Godly counsel, she touched the lives of many and was a pillar of strength and grace to all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, generosity, spiritual devotion and servitude will continue to inspire generations. Her laugh was infectious and made all those around her smile and laugh as well; she was a low-key comedian. She enjoyed singing, crocheting, quilting, shopping and could most likely be found in the House of God. Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, amazing friend, and most importantly, a servant of the Most High God. Though she is no longer with us, we rejoice in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Savior, whom she served so faithfully. She was honorably discharged and has received her Heavenly reward. "Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of thy Lord.” —Matthew 25:23. Pastor Linda Mae Butler leaves to cherish her memory, loved ones who will carry on her legacy of love and faith: 2 daughters, Robbie (Bobby) Williams, of Albany, NY and Stacy (Ronald) Travis of Missouri City, TX; 2 brothers, Frank (Beverly) James of Marion, NC and Rodney (Alexis) Murphy of Flint, MI; 5 grandchildren, Kennen Butler of New York, NY; Kristin (Steven) Santiago of Greensboro, NC, Bobby Williams Jr., of Greensboro, NC, Breonna and Keeonna Travis of Missouri City, TX); 3 great-grandchildren, Madeline Santiago, Gerelle and Brealle Earl (Missouri City, TX); 3 god-children, Tracy Minnified, Taylor Minnifield, and Jessica Robinson, all of Flint Township., MI; special friends, Apostle Ruby Johnson, Sis Minnie Minnifield, Sis. Lenona “Nonie” Thomas, Shelia Thompson, and Nicole Beckham; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends that she considered family. Pastor Butler was preceded in death by her parents; father, Thomas Murphy; mother, Lee B. Murphy; brothers, Phillip, James & Audie Murphy; and sister, Geraldine Welch.
