BARFIELD, Minster Linda - Age 59, passed away, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austel, Georgia. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2nd Chance Church, 1950 Burr Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Derrick Aldridge, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Minister Barfield will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., from 12 noon- 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6-8 p.m. Minister Linda Barfield was born April 1, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Lucille and Jimmie Barfield Sr. Minister Barfield was a 1972 graduate of Northwestern High School. She loved and lived for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Minister Barfield was employed as a Medical Radiology Transcriber at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. She later became an Executive Assistant to Joe and Roy Sheram of Guardian Interlock. She was a member of Believers Bible Christian Church of Atlanta, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Allen McNair. Minister Barfield earned her degree in Theology and became a Licensed Minister after graduating with honors as Summa Cum Laude from the School of Ministry Believers Bible College of Atlanta, GA in 1993. Minister Linda Barfield leaves to cherish precious memories: mother, Lucille Barfield of Flint; sister, Theresa (David) McIntosh; brothers, Tommie, Jimmie Jr., Fred and Jerome (Yolanda) Barfield, all of Flint; 9 aunts, Louise Branch, Flora Pringle, Frances (Otis) Streeter, Lueresia Russell, Marie Valentine, Jacqueline, JoAnn and Frances Barfield, and Mary Stewart; 1 uncle, Joe Nathan (Fannie) Barfield; 9 nieces; 8 nephews; 7 great-nieces; 4 great-nephews; god-daughter, Nia Jackson; special friend, Donald Dean Lawler; many other relatives and friends. whom she held close to her heart including, Beverly Lawler-Kee, Cindy Fessler, Angela Blossomgame, Valecia “Peaches” Neal, Angela Sewell, Isabell Lay, Phyllis Poole, Lilly Hunt, Wendy, Min. Doris Beasley, and Brenda Musuka. You all were truly on one accord in friendship with Linda. Minister Barfield was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Barfield Sr.; grandparents, John (Mattie) Barfield and Cleve (Edna) Pringle Sr.; niece, Monica Barfield; great niece, Theresa S. Barfield; several aunts and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Joe and Roy Sheram of Guardian Interlock; thank you from the depths of our hearts for sincere devoted love and care shown to Linda.
