GODWIN, Mother Lillie - Age 72, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Eliezer Church of Apostolic Faith, 523 E. Hamilton Ave. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Bishop Raymond H. Dunlap, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11 a.m. Monday. Mother Godwin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Our beloved Mother Lillie Mae Godwin was born April 11, 1941 in Rabun, Alabama, the daughter of Napoleon and Marie Thompson. She was the wife of Smart Jack Godwin for over 30 years. Mother Godwin was a member of the Eliezer Church of the Apostolic Faith for 43 years, where she served as a faithful Missionary (Vice President), Sunday School Teacher, Director of Vacation Bible School, Choir Director, Head Cook and whatever her hands found to do. At the age of 16 she was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. She loved studying, reading the word and cooking. Mother Godwin was a true “Prayer “Warrior” and she prayed until something happened. Her favorite scripture was Lamentations 3:22,23. Mother Lillie Mae Godwin leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Shirley Godwin and Angela Robinson, both of Flint and Elaine (Ernest) VanBuren of Denver, CO; 2 sons, Samuel (Chanetta) Godwin and Maurice (Patricia) Godwin, both of Flint; grandchildren, Krystal, Sheree, Precious, Solomon VanBuren, all of Denver, CO; Alexis, Shiiana, Aaron, Nathaniel, Caleb, Destinee, Isaiah, Krystal, Christian, Darrin, Darron, all of Flint; great-grandchildren, Jason, Ja’el, Ivory, Darrin Jr., Dion, Saniah, Darron Jr., Dylan, Daniel, Sky, Taylor and London; god-children, Nuana Dunlap, Auyanna Bentley, Bruce Raymond King, Tajuana King, Jackie Mills, Pamela Richardson, Chanceni Hamilton and Katrina Cobb; great-god-child, Chyna Tinner;3 sisters, Mary Thompson of Pensacola, FL; Elizabeth Marshall of Albany, NY and Estelle Thompson of Buffalo, NY; 2 brothers, Carnice Fairly of Mobile, AL and John (Shirley) Thompson of Buffalo, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Mary Kelly and family and neighbor, Margaret Robinson. Mother Godwin was preceded in death by husband, Smart Jack Godwin; parents, Napoleon and Marie Thompson; brothers and sisters.
