CHANEY, Mrs. Lillie - Age 66, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, June 26, 2009 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Urundi Knox officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mrs. Chaney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Lillie Ree “Ree-Ree” Chaney was born August 26, 1942 in Forest, Mississippi, the daughter of Atwood and Luella McDuffy-Moore. After graduating in 1961 from Sherman Hill High School in Lake, Mississippi, she relocated to Flint, Michigan. Lillie was a member of Ebenezer Ministries, where she served on Missionary Society and the CK Travelers. She was affectionately known as “Ree-Ree”. Lillie was employed at St. Joseph Hospital, which became Genesys Health Park, retiring in 1992. She leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Valerie Renee Quaker of McDonough, GA, Francine (Nelson) Mays of Detroit, MI, Veronica (Raphael) Welch, JaQuna Chaney, all of Flint; son, Timothy B. Chaney of Mt. Morris, MI; 3 god-daughters, Thomasean Britten, Stella Davis and Sabrena Paxton; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Essie (J.C.) Townsend, Christiania Townsend, all of Flint, Margaret Evans and Mary Moore, both of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Lonnie (Walterean) Moore of Indianapolis, IN and Edward (Josalind) Moore of Forest, MS; special niece, Mamie Johnson; nephew, Chester Moore, both of Flint; 9 sisters-in-law, Thelma King, Mary Ann Hicks, both of Helena, AR, Marie Thompson of Stone Mountain, GA, Mary, Bobby Manny, Mattie Williams, Edna and Rosemary Chaney, all of Flint and Alberta Chaney of Texas; 3 brothers-in-law, Curtis Hughes of Atlanta, GA, Joe Hicks of Helena, AR and Marion Chaney of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including Ozie B. Logan. “Ree-Ree” was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Lonnie; parents; 3 sisters, Lessie Jones, Annie Townsend and Pearlean Hughes; and brother, Roosevelt Moore.
