Mr. Lewis Albert Brown Jr.

BROWN, Mr. Lewis Albert Jr. - Age 74, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at Heritage Manor. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, February 15, 2019 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, G-1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Patrick Sanders Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Brown will be viewed during the family hour only. Lewis Albert Brown Jr. was born July 6, 1944 in Kay moor, West Virginia, the son of the late Deacon Albert Brown Sr. and Nina Maggie Brown. He was the male sibling to 4 sisters, Joyce Brown of Philadelphia, PA, Dorothy Boddy of West Chester, PA, Marilyn Brown of Oak Hill, WV and Alfredia Thompson of Charleston, WV. Lewis attended Harlem Heights Elementary School and Collins High School in Oak Hill, WV. He grew up in a religious home attending First Baptist Church in Harlem Heights where he was baptized attending Sunday School regularly and sang in the Junior Chorus. Lewis moved to Flint, Michigan and joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. He found his own mission in the church by visiting the nursing homes and hospitals with the late Deacon John Hubbard every Sunday after attending the morning service. Lewis enjoyed doing this every month and loved attending Bible Study. “LA” as he was often called was employed at Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Spring, WV. Later he moved to Flint, Michigan and was employed at General Motors Corporation for 30 years until he retired. He loved to talk about his Lord. His last conversation with me and his friend was that he was ready to go home to see his Lord. Strongly feeling that he had done all he could and it was time to go. His work was finished, he bore his cross and didn’t complain during his illness. Lewis your sisters didn’t want you to leave us, we felt that you left us too soon. He enjoyed dining out at his favorite restaurants. His hobbies were watching Channel 12 and would talk to anyone about his God. It was a must that he had to have his breakfast before he started his day. Lewis Albert Brown Jr. is survived by: 4 sisters, Joyce Brown of Philadelphia, PA, Dorothy Boddy of West Chester, PA, Marilyn Brown of Oak Hill, WV and Alfredia Thompson of Charleston; 2 nephews, Lamont Boddy and Lara Brown; 1 great-niece, Janiasia K. Boddy; 2 great-nephews, Saysianna Boddy and Peyton Boddy; aunt, Dorothy and her grandchildren, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews; many cousins and friends. The family wishes to to express their thanks for the many acts of kindness shown during their hours of bereavement. Many thanks to his cousins, friend, Mr. Bill Evans who he often referred to as his brother. May God bless each of you and sustain a lasting place in your soul. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Hurley Medical Center, Heritage Manor doctor, Heart-to-Heart Hospice staff too many to name, Ms. Linda McKeown, Bishop Jimmy Simms, Mr. Bill Evans, Rev. Edward Elam, Dr. M. Muhammed, Dr. Ajheem, Dr. Pandit and his favorite nurse, Mr. Robert.
