Mrs. Lessie Lee Caudle

CAUDLE, Mrs. Lessie Lee - age 89, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Caudle will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Lessie Lee Caudle was born February 27, 1925 in Cleveland County, Arkansas, the daughter of Azzie and Amanda Jones. She accepted Christ at an early age in Rison, AR and sung in a Quartet along with her sisters. After moving to Michigan, she joined Foss Avenue Baptist Church and then later joined House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart where she served on the Mother’s Board, Nurse’s Guild and Usher Board. Lessie enjoyed gardening, ceramics, making hats, upholstery, baseball and talking on the phone. She was very creative making nick names for her grandchildren, Dee, Rockie, Ugly Boy, Cain, Sweet, Queen, Granny, Brown Eye, Talking Machine, Punkin, Plug, Foots, Chewy, Hair, Peaches, Walkie Talkie, Watermelon, Nap, Peewee, Tipsy, T-T, Pretty, Jon-Jon, Red, Pretty Girl, Twenty-One, Tree and Jumping Jack. Mrs. Lessie Lee Caudle leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Costella Underwood, Velma Jean Caudle, and Addie Roberts, all of Flint and Cheryl (Eld. Gregory) Martin of Irving, TX; 2 sons, Milas (Veronica Ruth) and Cedric Caudle; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Minnie Armstrong; brother, Garland Jones; a host of other relatives and friends including special daughters, Dorothy Pharms and Jackie Carmichael. Mrs. Caudle was preceded in death by son, John H. Caudle; daughter Linda Ann Caudle; parents, Azzie and Amanda Jones; 2 sons-in-law, Bennie Robert Jr. and Charlie Underwood; grandchildren; Tarrant L. Underwood and Romondo A. Underwood; great granddaughter, Andrian S. Caudle; 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
