PEOPLES, Mr. Leroyal - Age 64, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Brian's House. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Wallace Hill, III officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Peoples will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. LeRoyal “LeRoy” Peoples was born September 8, 1946 in Greensboro, Alabama, the son of Fred and Rosa Johnson. He moved to Flint at the age of 9 with his grandparents, Brooks and Frances Collins. “LeRoy” accepted Christ at an early age. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1965.” In 1972, he married Brenda Reasonover and to this union two children were born, Traci Smith and LeRoyal Bernard. “LeRoy” was employed with the City of Flint, Buick and Chevrolet Metal Fabricating and was a member of UAW Local 659. He enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles and television. Mr. LeRoyal “LeRoy” Peoples leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Brenda Peoples of Mt. Morris, MI; daughter, Traci (Clayton) Smith; 2 sons, LeRoyal (Sheree) Peoples and Marcell (Trammell) Simpson;4 grandchildren, D’Meyne and Tajah Smith of Grand Blanc, MI and Charisma and Faith Simpson of Atlanta, GA; 9 sisters, Frances (Wallace) Collins of Flint, Elizabeth Hatcher of Birmingham, AL, Juanita (Lester) Poulson of Cleveland, OH, Jacci (Ricardo) Manning of Arlington, TX, Relinda (Rufus) Bradley, Della Williams of Saginaw, MI, Freddie Mae Tillman of Flint, Marcelene (Willie) Culberson of Lansing, MI, Bonnie (Leon) Gaston of Danville, IL and Linda (James) Davis of Pontiac, MI; 4 brothers, Denard (Mary) Collins of Flint, Freddie Cole of Saginaw, MI, John (Paulette) Johnson of Inkster, MI and Kenneth (Gloria) Johnson of Detroit, MI; mother-in-law, Annie Reasonover; 4 sisters-in-law, Marion Collins, Loretta Clerkley, both of Flint,Roslyn Williams of Nashville, TN and Brenda Collins of Akron, OH; brother-in-law, Dwight (Dorothy) Batey of Atlanta, GA; a host of aunts, other relatives and friends including special friends, Walter Duncan, Edmund Baker, Barry Edwards, Russell Bethay, Jessie Patrick and Ernest Lewis. Mr. Peoples was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Johnson and Fred Peoples; brothers, James Peoples, Brooks Collins, Jr., and Lee Collins; sisters, Daisy Davis, Dorothy Willis and Minnie Peoples; and grandparents, Brooks and Frances Collins. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Douglas S. Chepeha and the U of M Otolaryngology Clinic, Dr. Collins and the Respiratory Clinic, Dr. Henry Mendoza, Dr. Saha and the McLaren Cancer Center and Brian’s House.
