Mr. Leroy Eugene "Teroy" Washington

WASHINGTON, Mr. Leroy Eugene "Teroy" - Age 74, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Medilodge of Montrose, Michigan. Mr. Washington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Leroy Eugene Washington Sr., better known as “Teroy” passed on peacefully on September 5, 2020 at Medilodge of Montrose, MI. Teroy was a proud father, grand-father, loving brother, caring uncle, loyal friend and a beloved father-figure to his many nieces and nephews as well as countless neighborhood children. Teroy was born on September 24, 1945 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Hazen Washington and Inez Copeland. He attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Central High School, “Class of 1963.” After graduation he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces and served his country. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he began his career with Buick City, a division of the General Motors Corporation. He was a proud member of Local #599, retiring after 29 years of dedicated service. Mr. Washington was an avid sports enthusiast his entire life. He played football, wrestled and competed in several other athletic events. During his time in the Army, he boxed professionally for the Armed Forces Team. Teroy loved watching his favorite teams, the Detroit Pistons and Michigan State Spartans football and basketball, whenever they played. When he wasn’t watching sports, his second love was classic Western movies. Teroy looked forward to holidays and family gatherings where he could break out the grill since he considered himself a BBQ grill master-chef. Teroy accepted Christ at an early age going to Temple Baptist Church which later became St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He will be missed dearly and leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Leroy Jr., Al, Travis, Marc, and Shaquille; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fredricka ‘Ricky’, Anne Louise, Michael (Eleanor), and Leonard; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, numerous cousins and a host of friends. Teroy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife Debra, son Pruitt; sister LaVern, brothers James, Auburn, and Charles; nephew Kenneth, niece Tamiko.
