Deacon Leroy Pratt

PRATT, Deacon Leroy - Age 82, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, March 24, 2023, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Alfred Harris Jr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Deacon Pratt will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Leroy “John” Pratt, took his last breath here on earth on March 14th and his ﬁrst in heaven, and how he was welcomed by Jesus, with his spirit put to ease. His joy greater than any of us could conceive. His mind and body freed. Leroy was born on April 3, 1940, in Columbus, Mississippi. He was the son of William and Robie Mae (Pratt) Anderson. He relocated to Flint, Michigan as a young boy. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1960, where he participated and was a member of the Football, Varsity Wrestling and Track Team. Leroy met Alma, the love of his life and their union gave them three beautiful and loving children, Sondrian, Bradford and Doron. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, he also served as a Deacon at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church (F.G.B.C.). Leroy was raised in the church and loved the Lord. He enjoyed the teaching of the word and loved Bible Study. He enjoyed ministering to others. He was active in the Outreach Ministry, he would go out and minister to the youth in the Detention Center. He enjoyed ministering to others. Leroy strived to be a positive inﬂuence to those who knew him, he was a stranger to “none.” He worked for General Motors for 35 years. He enjoyed a variety of sports and watching the “ball games” on TV and going to sporting events with his sons. He spent many- a- day teaching his granddaughter Taylr how to play golf. Going one-on-one with a friendly competition of wrestling with his son Brad. Going out to lunch with his son Doron and talking on the phone with his daughter Quincy. Taking his baby sister Kay to get Cherry ice cream at Baskins Robbins. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf, from watching the Buick Open and participating in golﬁng tournament fundraisers in different states. He enjoyed going to T.D. Jakes “Man Power” Conventions with his brother-in-law Curtis. Leroy enjoyed the holidays going out to the tree farm during Christmas with his family to cut down his own tree. He enjoyed taking scenic rides with his wife to Muskegon and once they arrived, they would walk along the Muskegon Shoreline. Watching the boats sail by and the parasailers ﬂying above. He enjoyed singing with his daughter Stacey during their “Jamming With Jesus” sessions and sharing stories of “way back when” during their walks at the Cultural Center. Leroy “John” Pratt leaves in the Lord’s care: His wife, Alma; four children, Bradford Leroy Pratt of Detroit, Michigan, Sondrian “Stacey” Pratt, of Grand Blanc, MI, Doron (Diona) Pratt of Burton, MI and Marquintes “Quincy” Bonner of Flint; sister, Stephanie Kay (Curtis) Freeman of Flint; grandchildren, Taylr Holbert, Courtney Milan Pratt, Jermaine McClaughlin, Jr., Monique Bonner, Shade Taylor and Marquise (Derdra) Gatley; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Taylor and Jayla Richardson; great-grandsons, Alex, Malik, Sebastian, Bryson, John Taylor and Demetrius Barney; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Robie Mae (Pratt) Anderson The Family would also like to express special thanks to: Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Jr., the Ministers, Elders and Deacon Board New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family . In addition, the family would like to recognize my loving family-oriented neighbors: the Batson (Block Captain), Fouse (Block Captain), Foreman, Hoye, Gordon, Cochran and Flowers families.
