DENT, Mr. Leroy - Age 75, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at his residence. Family hour 10AM Wednesday January 6, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Bishop M.C. Akins officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Wednesday. Mr. Dent will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Leroy Dent was born June 9, 1934 in Merigold, Mississippi, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Obie Lee, Sr. and Cora B. (Fonville) Dent. Leroy resided in Flint for more than 50 years. He retired from Chevrolet Truck and Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation and was a member of UAW Local #659. Leroy was an avid sports fan and he loved to fish. Mr. Leroy Dent leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Geraldine (Thomas) Dent of Flint; 4 daughters, Loanda Dent of Flint, Marie (Al) Jones of Dayton, OH, Claudette Hughes of St. Paul, MN and Debra Williams (Gordon) Moore of Chicago, IL; 8 sons, Anthony, Quintin, Andre, Alphonso, Cedrick and Kenneth Maurice Dent, all of Flint, Kenneth Wayne (Emma) Morgan of Roswell, GA and Larry (Chris) Cannon of Houston, TX; 34 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Queen Shipp, Mirian “Shirley” Hodge, all of Flint and Shirley Gaines of Robbins, IL; special niece, Alma Dent of Flint; 5 brothers, Willie (Louise) Dent of Dallas, TX, Louis Dent of Houston, TX, Arthur (Deborah) Dent of Flint Twp., Monroe (Montez) Dent and Freddie Dent, all of Flint; mother-in-law, Annie Thomas; 5 sisters-in-law, Jean Thomas, Bobbie Peoples, Jeanette (James) Garland, Bernestine (Cager) Dent, all of Flint and Consuelo “Connie” Dent of Ann Arbor, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, John Drumgole, Freddie Johnson and Sam Simons, all of Flint. Mr. Leroy Dent was preceded in death by his parents, Obie Lee, Sr. and Cora (Fonville) Dent; 3 brothers, Obie Lee Dent, Jr., Robert Lee Dent and Obie Dent III; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Dent) Richardson and Evone (Dent) Moore. The family would also like to express special thanks to the Dr. Abdullah Raffee and Dr. Konloni and the medical staff at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
