Mr. Leroy Davis

DAVIS, Mr. Leroy - Age 82, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at Ascension-Genesys, Grand Blanc, MI. Funeral service 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Bishop Neal Roberson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Family and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mr. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Leroy Davis was born February 25th, 1938, the fourth child of Clarence and Abilena Davis. Leroy grew up in Carrollton, Mississippi. As a child, he attended school and worked hard alongside his family. He also developed a talent for playing baseball and singing. Leroy decided to leave Carrollton in search of a better life in 1956. He first came to Flint, Michigan. Leroy was hired to work for Chevrolet V-8 Engine, a division of General Motors Corporation in 1956 and worked there for 44 years, retiring in 2000. Leroy married Mary Liddell in 1956 and to this union 5 children were born. Though they divorced later in life, they maintained a warm friendship until his death. He later married Marshal Loyd, who preceded him in death. Leroy believed in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was a longtime member of Heavenly Host Church (now known as Church of the Harvest International COGIC) under the pastorates of Rev. M.C. Aiken and Bishop Neal Roberson. He was a faithful member of the Church Security Team. Throughout his adult life, Leroy continued to pursue his passion for singing. He sang in a number of quartet groups as a Lead Singer. His last group, The Gospel Supremes, recorded two CD’s and traveled the United States. Leroy’s memory will be cherished by: children, Linda (Ralph) Fowlkes of Wheaton, IL, Naomi Richmond of Waldorf, MD, Bernadette Davis of Cherry Hill, NJ, Janice Davis and Calvin Davis, all of Flint; grandchildren, Ronnie (Gia), Ryan and Randall Richmond, Erica Scott, Jacob Davis, Krystal and Alesia Fowlkes, Brittany, Gabrielle, Maya, Riley, Ava and Harper Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; friend, Mary Davis; brothers, Robert (Beatrice) Davis, Richard Davis and Earnest (Valorie) Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Abilena Davis; brothers, Clarence Jr. (Pat) and Andrew Davis; sisters, Willye Paul Davis, Judy Gates and Earlie Mae Peppers.
