Mr. Leroy Leon Batson

BATSON, Mr. Leroy Leon - age 31, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital-Lansing, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Second Chance Church, 1950 Burr Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Derrick A. Aldridge, Sr. officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Batson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Leroy Leon Batson was born March 20, 1982 in Flint, Michigan. The son of Leroy and Daisy (Dudley) Batson. He was a resident of Mount Morris. He lived in Beecher his entire life. He graduated from Beecher High School, class of 2001. He was loyal to Beecher. He had the most endearing smile, unique laugh and was always a gentleman. He married his High school sweetheart Angela Wilson on August 1, 2009, and to this union was born a son, Kayvon Leon Batson. At a young age he was a member of Detroit Street Church of God under the leadership of his grandfather, Bishop Herbert Dudley. He later became a member of 2nd Chance Church under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Aldridge. He was a shift manager and he loved his job and his guest and they loved him, especially his smile and his warm personality. He loved listening to music. His favorites were David Ruffin, The Temptations, and Country music. Above all, he enjoyed being a father and spending time with his son Kayvon. He was funny in his own way and he loved to give advice to others but never took his own. Mr. Batson leaves to cherish his memory: Wife; Angela Batson of Mount Morris; 1 son, Kayvon Leon Batson; aunt, Renee Dudley-Thomas; 3 uncles, Allen Crawford of Texas, Andra Crawford of Sherry, CA, Stacy Batson of Pine Bluff, AR; special cousins, Jason Dudley of Mount Morris, MI, Jasmine (Israel) Thomas; grandparents, Pearl Crawford of Pine Bluff, AR, Leon (Carolyn) Batson of Flint, Elton Dudley; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Joe Brown, Kevin Fleming, The brown Family. Mr. Batson was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy (Dudley) Batson; grandfather, Bishop Herbert Dudley; uncle, Herbert Dwayne Dudley; brother in law, Terry Wilson. The family would like to express special thanks to Beecher community, The Detroit Street Church of God, and 2nd Chance Church.
