BROOKS, Mr. Leonard, III "Lil Bill" - Age 58, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 8, 2005 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends. Family hour 10AM Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Family Worship Center Church, 3162 Flushing Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Timothy R. Stokes officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mr. Brooks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Leonard "Lil Bill" Brooks III was born on June 4, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Leonard II and Leola (Sweeney) Brooks. Leonard graduated from Charlotte A. Mitchell High School in 1964, after which he moved to Flint, MI. He was employed at AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors, retiring in 1999. Mr. Brooks was a faithful and devoted member of Family Worship Center Church in Flint. Mr. Leonard "Lil Bill" Brooks III leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Brooks; 3 daughters, DeShawn, Stephanie (Edward) Cold of Birmingham, AL and Rachel (Khalil) Hairston of Grand Blanc; 2 sons, Leonard Brooks IV and Amor Bass; 5 grandchildren, Demitriah, Jalen, Lauren, Aaron and Ayanna; 4 sisters, Judith "Kim" Joseph and Jacqueline Brooks both of Bossier City, LA, Beverly and Linda Sue Brooks of Flint; brother, Mark A. Brooks of Bossier City, LA; 3 aunts, Mineola Jaggers and Ernestine Sweeney of Bossier, LA and Ernestine V. Sweeney of Flint; uncle, Eddie (Loretta) Sweeney; 5 sisters-in-law, Bernie (Eugene) Nelson, Agnes Elaine Greene, Sondra (Charles) Redmon, Joyce (Cleo) Newton and Lisa (Ricky) Banks; 2 brothers-in-law, Leon (Mary) and Gregory (Theresa) Cooley; a host of relatives and dear friends, including special mother Vera Ford; dear friends, Gregory and Pam Gaines, Ted and Phyllis Jordan, Phil (Mac) McDill, Jimmy Mosley, Byron Smith, Joshua Thompson, Beverly Towns and his old "Posse." Mr. Leonard "Lil Bill" Brooks was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; father and mother-in-law, Leon and Ellese Cooley; special uncle, Webster (Charlie) Sweeney Jr. The family extends special thanks to Pastor Timothy R.
