Mr. Leon Edward Gould

GOULD, Mr. Leon Edward - Age 72, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Mr. Gould will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, May 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM and Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Leon Edward Gould was born in Flint Michigan the son of Bill Wright and Mary Lou Talbert. Leon was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Leon was a member of Word of Life Christian Church where he served on the Ambassador Team. He was a Community Health Counselor at Genesee Health System and Umpired/Refereed and Coached for many years. His passion was working with youth coaching and mentoring girls’ basketball. Leon was the 2nd Black Quarterback at Beecher High School In 1970. He was a multi-Sport Athlete and is also known by many in Genesee County as ”COACH LEON”. He never had a losing season at Beecher High School as the “Lady Bucs” Head Varsity Basketball Coach. With Leon being the oldest brother who loved playing all sports he often gets the credit from his two younger brothers Gary and Ronald Cooper for mentoring them and teaching them the game of Baseball, Football and Basketball. Leon’s interest in sports began at age 11 when his team won the City 11 and under Baseball team Championship. He then began Wrestling at Emerson Jr High School. Those Wrestling skills prepared Leon to become a member of the Big Nine All Conference Wrestling Team at Beecher High School in 1968. His hobbies were spending time with family, friends and traveling with his honey love, especially going to visit his daughter who lives in Cape Coral, Florida and his two grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandson, Carter’s baseball games, and granddaughter, Gabrielle’s softball games while visiting. He also enjoyed mentoring and coaching his grandson, Terry. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching and attending NBA, MLB, and NFL games. He loved all sports, but Basketball was his favorite. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Leon was known for his joyful spirit, and a heart full of laughter. Leon brought light and encouragement to everyone he met. He was slow to anger, always choosing grace and kindness, and had a gift for lifting others up with words of hope and a warm smile. His unwavering positivity and love for life was rooted in a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. A true servant at heart, Leon inspired those around him with his steady presence, and contagious humor. He loved spending time with and traveling with his honey love, Adrienne Niles (known as “Ree”). Leon Gould leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters and 2 sons, Eric Gould, Katrina (Lamar) Campbell, Sharrod Branch, and Regina Gould, residents of Flint, Michigan and Cape Coral Florida; grandchildren, Shierica Gould, Alyssa Harvey, Terry Sanders, Gabrielle Campbell, Carter Campbell; 4 sisters, Carla (Gould) Dent, Kim (Cooper) Richardson, Cathy (Jason) Jones, and Stephanie (Frank) Harris; 3 brothers, Gary Cooper, Ronald Cooper, Richard Cooper; honey love, Adrienne “Ree” Niles; a host Of Other relatives and friends Including special friends, Larry Baker, Charles Craig, Herman Hughes, Mark Williams, James Cummings Jr, Calvin McDaniel, Michael Coleman, Donnie Odom, Clifford Burks, Dwayne McCarty, Dr. Walter White, Coach Monica, and many more.
