Mrs. Leola Williams

WILLIAMS, Mrs. Leola - age 79, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Patrick W. Sanders, Sr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hill Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Leola Williams began her journey February 8, 1935 in Minter City, Mississippi and went home to be with the Lord September 6, 2014 at her residence. After moving to Flint she was united in marriage to Mr. Eugene R. Williams and to this union five children were born. Confessing Christ at an early age Leola was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church and for many years worked as a cosmetologist at Lippincott Beauty Salon where she enjoyed doing hair and being with her friends. Leola was a member of Flint Beauty Cadets, National Beauty Culture League and also a member of the International Tae Kwon Do Federation where she received Black Belt at age 65. Leola enjoyed spending time and creating memories with her family and friends and her grandchildren loved her spaghetti. Leola leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Fannie A. (Felton) Cornelious; two sons, Eugene R. Williams Jr., Darrell D. (Lucretia) Williams; grandchildren, Revelle Rafael Maine, Darrell D. Eddins, Terrell Kimsey, Robert Patterson, Shay C. Williams, Eugene Williams III, Damise Young, Adrian Williams,. Ariana Williams, Felton Cornelious Jr., Victor (Kaitlin) Kemsey, John (Tijuana) Kimsey, Sean (Elana) Kimsey, Angie (Paul) Herring; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers in law, David Herbert, Billy Joe Herbert, Darnell Herbert; and a host of nieces and nephews, also special friend Alice Odom and the ladies of the Lippincott Beauty Salon. Leola is preceded in death by: husband, Eugene R. (Dawg-Gone) Williams; daughters, G. Justen Williams and Toni Kimsey, parents, Odia (Sidney) Cartlidge; stepmother, Lou Emma Cartlidge; sisters, Christer Bell Calvert, Sidney Fitzpatrick, Laura Mae young, Lease Dean, Every Lee Shaffer and Martha Williams; brothers, Alonzo Cartlidge, Odia Cartlidge Jr., and Joe Mack. The family would like to thank Barbara Armstrong for her caregiving along with Marsha Hill and Gloria Moses, Dr. E. Saeed, American Hospice, New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family and everyone who has supported our family through your prayers.
