Mr. Leo Shaw

SHAW, Mr. Leo - Age 83, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Vibra Hospital. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Lovedale Memorial Park Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Shaw will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Leo Shaw was born on April 5, 1929 in Tarry, Arkansas, the son of Matt and Cora Shaw. He relocated to Flint, Michigan 1953. Two days after arriving in Flint he began working for Buick, a division of General Motors. Leo served 47 years before retiring in January of 2000. He was a member of UAW Local 599. Leo believed strongly in the Lord. He had a great love family and friends. Leo also loved gardening where he grew a variety of vegetables and was especially proud of his collard greens and tomatoes. He also loved sports with baseball (Detroit Tigers) being his favorite. Last but not least, his choice of music was the Blues. His favorite sing included Howling Wolf, BB King and ZZ Hill to name a few. Leo was known by all that crossed his path as a “good man.” He was also an extraordinary father. Mr. Leo Shaw leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Russell (Faye) Shaw and Wayne (Denisa) Shaw; 2 daughters, Cleo Hardy and Norma Aubrey, all of Flint; 8 grandchildren, Ms. Shayla Shaw, J.D. of Omaha, NE, Deborah (Victor) Tripplett, Terry Aubrey, Jr., Eric Reed, Shala Diamond, A’Mir and my’Lyah Shaw, all of Flint; 6 great-grandchildren, DeAndre Shaw of Omaha, NE, Taquisha, Latwone, Darica, Cochise and Suranjan Hardy, all of Flint; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Jarelle Stewart, Jr. and A’mari Hardy, both of Flint; 2 sisters, Louise Tilloman and Mildred Holmes, both of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Odessa Hill of Rockford, IL; brother-in-law, Calvin Dupree of Oakland, CA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. Raymond Race, the East Warren St. and West Carpenter Rd. families. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Cora Shaw, wife, Williett Shaw; 2 sons, Harmon and Raymond Shaw; grandson, Tito Hardy; 2 sisters, Estella Webb and Arlene Pullen; brother, Floyd Shaw; parents-in-law, Josh and Carrie Dupree; 4 sisters-in-law, Vester Lowe, Eloise, Ozell and Laura Dupree; 3 brothers-in-law, Josh Hill, Tyree and Freeman Dupree.
