Mrs. Lenore Croudy

CROUDY, Mrs. Lenore - Age 81, a woman celebrated throughout Genesee County and the State of Michigan, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Regency of Grand Blanc-Grand Blanc, MI. Visitation with family will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, with Delta Sigma Theta-Omega Omega Service from 10:15-10:45 AM Friday January 27, 2017 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 DuPont St., with a memorial service in celebration of her life commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Mickarl Thomas Eulogist and Pastor Robert Blake officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Lenore “Lennie” (Tolson) Croudy, was born March 30, 1935 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, daughter of the late Harold and Vivian Tolson. She was a member of Vernon chapel A.M.E. Church, Flint. Her passion for helping young people led her to pursue a degree in Education from West Virginia State College. She earned a Master of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University. For over 40 years she was employed by Flint Community Schools in several positions including teacher, Instructional Specialist, and Asst. Dean. She retired as District Coordinator of Language Arts and Humanities (Pre-Kindergarten- Adult). Lenore’s Legacy reflects a lifetime of service to others. She served on the Mott Community College Board of Trustees for over 25 years (Board Chair from 1995 to December 31, 2016). She also served the Board of Directors for the National and Central Region Association of Community College Trustees. Lenore is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Among them: The prestigious George Romney Lifetime Achievement Service Award, Don Riegle Service Award from the Flint Jewish Federation, Sarah Allen Award-Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, and Administrator of the Year Award by United Teachers of Flint. Other recognition awards include Flint Rotary, and Genesee District Library Priority Children-Children’s Champion Award. Lenore has served YWCA VAC, Salvation Army, Youth Leadership Institute, UNCF Telethon Coordinator, Tall Pine Council-Boy Scouts of America, Hundred Club of Flint, NAACP Education Committee Chair, and President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Flint Alumnae Chapter. Lenore leaves to cherish her memories, two loving and devoted sons, of whom she was very proud; Ronald L. (Miyazu) Croudy of Manhattan, NY, Sean Croudy of Flint, MI; granddaughter, Kaya Croudy of Manhattan, NY; father of her children Ronald Croudy, Sr.; sister, Joanna LaSane, Atlantic City, New Jersey; adopted sisters and brother, Erma Martin, Gloria Crawley and James Crawley; adopted nephews, Carlos Muhammad, Kevin Crawley, Lloyd and Lynn Miller; adopted niece, Khalia Gatewood; “Original Granddaughters”, Kayla Topps and Kaci Mitchell of Houston, TX. Heartfelt thanks to all who shared in the life and care of our Beloved Lenore, including Regency of Grand Blanc staff, Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church (Pastor Robert Blake), Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea and Mott Community College Trustees and staff, Theresa (Alvern) Locke, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Dan Cady, Eugene Rutledge, Mary (John) Ross, Anthony Alexander, Gloria N.
