BYRD, Mrs. Lenora - Age 68, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Magnumcare of Saginaw - Saginaw, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bishop Alvernis Johnson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Byrd will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Lenora Byrd, known as "Phyllis" was born on December 5, 1946 in Camden, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Grady and Mildred Givens, Sr. Lenora was a graduate of Flint Central High School where she sang in the school choir. She worked as a Nursing Assistant at Hurley Medical Center, and later transitioned in her career to work for the City of Flint Treasury Department, where she retired after over 30 years of service. As a child, Lenora grew up at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In 2003, she joined Kingdom Life Ministries Int'l. She was a great lover of animals, as a matter of fact, she never met an animal she didn't like, especially her dogs! More than anything, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She will be truly missed by all knew her and loved her! Ms. Lenora Byrd “Phyllis” leaves to cherish her precious memories: her only child, Kendra (Andrae) Sweeney; 6 grandchildren, Norman (Shantel) Mize Jr., Javonta'e (Roneshia) Westbrook Mize, De'Marcus (LaTroya) Johnson, Devone (Patricia) Williams, Xavier Turner and Khalia (Brindon) Bell; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Denise (Bobby) Blade, Sr. and Sharon (Danny Ray Sr.) Gibbs; 2 brothers, Grady (Connie) Givens, Jr. and Jerome Givens; special uncle, Raymond Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Clara Blakely, Charlotte Langston and Doremus Kennedy. Ms. Byrd was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Mildred Givens Sr.; ex-husband, Andrew Byrd; best friend, Stevella Young. The family would like to express special thanks to Bishop Alvernis Johnson and the Kingdom Life Ministries Int'l. family, Lawrence E.
