Mr. Lendon C. Lewis Sr.

LEWIS, Mr. Lendon C. Sr. - Age 92, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Bowling Green, KY. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Greater New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ, 3401 Emerson St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Elder Thomas Callaway, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St., Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Tuesday. Mr. Lendon C. Lewis was born July 3, 1926 in Tylertown, Mississippi, the son of Reed and Jo Anna Lewis. He was a member of China Grove Church of God in Christ. As a young adult “LC” moved to New Orleans, LA. He relocated to Chicago, IL. He later moved to Flint, MI and became employed at General Motors Corporation. He finally settled in San Francisco, CA where for 30 years he worked in construction. After retiring “LC” moved back to Flint and on September 21, 2001, he married Wanda Outland. Soon after, they made their home in Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Lewis loved fishing, hunting cooking and was known especially for his sweet potato pies, dressing and peach cobbler. Mr. Lendon C. “LC” Lewis leaves in Gods care: his wife Wanda Outland Lewis of Bowling Green, KY; 2 daughters, Mardessie Holmes of Flint and Lisa Gardner of Vallejo, CA; stepson, James Outland II; grandchildren, Damika Buggs of Flint, Brandon (Katie) Lewis of Midland, Rah´lena, Rreyonna, Naatyca, Darry´l and Courtney Holmes, all of Flint, Dale Miller Jr. of Suisun City, CA, James III, Jamesha and Jalen Outland all of Flint; sisters, Velma Nelson Badon of Chesaning, MI, Ethel Lewis, Bulah (Marvin) Grant, all of Flint, Lula Mae (Ted) Gillespie of Nashville, TN, Mary Alice Swims and Mary Lee Stewart, both of Jackson, TN and Elnora Lewis of Oakland; brother, Oliver Lewis of Flint; sister-in-law, Betty Swims of Otisville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Reginald (Tonja) McGee, Art (Jamera) Blackburn, Randy (Gail) Dagley, Pastor Jimmy Carpenter, Pastor Jimmy Williams and Pastor Jo Manning. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by: his son, Lendon C. “June Bugg” Lewis Jr.; granddaughter, Latreshia Graham; parents, Reed and Jo Anna Lewis; and brothers, Lenzy Lewis, Dilly Lewis and Billy Lewis.
