Elder LeeRoy Wells, Sr.

WELLS, Elder LeeRoy, Sr.- Age 66, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller, Pastor. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Friday. Mr. Wells will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to receive friends. Elder LeeRoy Wells, Sr. was born to Phillip and Gussie Wells on April 15, 1950 in Montevallo, Alabama. He resided in Grand Blanc, MI. LeeRoy was an alumnus of Flint Northern High School “Class of 1969” where he experience great success as a student athlete on the wrestling team. After graduating high school, LeeRoy stepped up to served his country when he was drafted by the United States Army. He served in the military for two years, received an Honorable Discharge and became a Vietnam War Veteran. LeeRoy wore many hats and served in various capacities. He was employed by Fisher Body & Buick City. Elder Wells is the founding Pastor of Temple of Faith Ministries. His hobbies included watching football and basketball, cooking and working on cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but most of all studying the Bible. LeeRoy faithfully ministered to those in nursing homes and behind prison walls. He was full of humor and love. Elder LeeRoy Wells, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: 9 children, seven daughters and two sons, Rosezetta (Gene) Hodge, Marlene (Tommy) Lassiter, LaRhonda Wells, LeeRoy Jr. (Monique) Wells, Paula Wells, Pamela Wells, Carolyn (Cousteau) McGee, Deonta (Demetrus) Wells and Phyllis (Antoine) Reeves; two step-children, Jaslene Reid and Juson Hawkins; grandchildren, Leonard, Tommy, Kiatoya, Crystal, Jasmine, Cryonna, Shakira, Ashlei, Jada, Alawnah, Leila, Aelijah, Aleeah, Christian, LeeRoy III, Elyse, and Caylah; a host of great grands; mother, Gussie Wells; four sisters, Phyllis J. Wells, Pauletta (Edward) Young of Canton, MI, Dorothy E. Wells, Shirley (Jerry) Boyd of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Fred Wells; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Dorothy Nicks of Washington, DC; uncle, Roy (Ruth) Well of Biloxi, MS; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Father in the gospel, Pastor James Paul Sanders, Pastor Richard Allen, Mark McCormick, Pastor Scroggins, Elder Puryear, Pastor Tyrone Sweeney, former wife for many years and mother of his children, Carolyn Wells, special friends, Pearlie Kincaid and family and Michele Hawkins and family, his Prayer Partners, Mother Greene, Mother Marsh, and Mother Bell. Elder Wells was preceded in death by his father, Phillip S. Wells; grandmother, Etta Prentice; sister, Vanessa Ballard; nephews, Earl A. Craig and Rauheem Wells; uncles, James W. Wells and Andrew Wells. The family would like to express special thanks to David Coleman, Nurse Debbie Nickerson and Fred Wells. We greatly appreciate all that you did for Elder LeeRoy Wells Sr.
