Leera Hughley-Flanigan

HUGHLEY-FLANIGAN, Mother Leera M. - Age 74, after a brief illness, made her transition, Thursday, January 20, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at North Star Baptist Church, 1657 E. Broadway St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr., officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, G-2020 E. Hill Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Flanigan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mother Leera Hughley-Flanigan was born June 15, 1936 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Johnnie Mae Armstrong and Roosevelt Williams. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Willie Lee Armstrong. Mother Flanigan was a native of Waycross, Georgia before moving to Flint, Michigan in the early 1970’s. Leera, retired from Hurley Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Roscoe Flanigan of Flint; 9 children, Ronnie (Patricia) Williams of Waycross, GA, Sherlena (Larry) Watkins, Darnell (Trudie) Hughley, all of Flint, Carnell Hughley of Waycross, GA, Junnie (Roy) Fields of Flint, Felecia (Michael) Scriven of Waycross, GA, Kim (Lifus) Ferguson of Conley, GA, Letitia and Lawanna Hughley, both of Flint; 6 stepchildren, Avon (Wayne) Bess, Lelia Humphrey, Linda Flanigan, Barbara Statford, Jackie Flanigan, all of Waycross, GA and Joey (Trina) Watkins of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Leola Lloyd of Waycross, GA; 31 grandchildren including special grandson, Danard Dilliard; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 aunts, Maxine Porter of Waycross, GA, Leola Redford, Ruby Henderson, all of Boston, MA and Adel Graham of Douglas, GA ; uncle, John Henderson of Boston, MA; brother-in-law, Willie Robert Hughley of Waycross, GA; sister-in-law, Rev. Sarah Smith of Miami, FL; goddaughter, Denise Allen of Clio, MI; special friends, Marcia Blassingame, Terry Harris, Sarah Smith of Miami, FL, Rhea Douglas, Karmaria Thema, both of Flint and Carolyn Norris of Muskegon, MI. Mother Flanigan was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Hughley; best friend, Betty Flanigan of Waycross, Georgia; stepson, Roscoe Flanigan, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Abdullah Raffee and staff, McLaren Regional Medical Center ICU nurse-Tamara, CCU nurse-Crystal and Pastor James O.
