JOHNSON, Mrs. Lee Esther - Age 67, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at her residence. Family hour 1PM Saturday, December 19, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Pastor Andrew Green officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1PM Saturday. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Friday. Mrs. Lee E. Johnson was born November 14, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Smith, Sr. Lee moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan at an early age, where she accepted Christ as her Savior. She graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids, MI in 1961. Lee moved to Flint in 1968 and was employed at General Motors for 30 years. She loved to cooking, sewing and traveling. She was very easy-going person. Lee enjoyed pleasure, was fun to be around and you couldn’t help but to love her. She enjoyed helping and doing what she could to make others happy. Lee's personality of gentleness, kindness and love will never be forgotten. She will truly be missed by many. Mrs. Lee E. Johnson leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Stonewall Johnson; 2 daughters, Carmen White of Holland, MI and Lela White of Texas; 3 sons, Jeffery (Othelia) White, Kevin White and Darnell Johnson of Memphis, TN; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mac Brown of Grand Rapids, MI, Willie Mae (Charlie) Myles of Chicago, Sherry Smith of Grand Rapids, MI, Tamara (Freeman) Simpson of Milton, FL and Karin Smith of Grand Rapids, MI; 5 brothers, Ollie Z. Smith, Jr., James and Carl Smith, all of Grand Rapids, MI, Manuel (Emma) Smith and Larry Smith, all of Mesa, AZ; mother-in-law, Victoria Johnson of Winston Ville, MS; 3 sisters-in-law, Hattie (Willie) Harris of Stockton, CA, Mary (Glen) Weatherspoon of Dolton, IL, and Sheler Johnson of Missouri, TX; 2 brothers-in-law, Walter (Kim) Johnson of Flint, MI and Willie (Thelma) Johnson of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
