NICHOLS, Mr. L.C. – Age 85, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Genesys Heath Park, Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Carlos D. Williams officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Nichols will lie in state in the Chapel and may be viewed from 12 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday. Mr. LC Nichols was born November 30, 1926 in McComb, MS. the son of Roy and Ethel (Brumfield) Nichols. LC moved to Flint, MI in 1947, where he met Ms. Daisy Glover, and they united in Holy Matrimony on March 15, 1952. He was an employee of Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing, retiring after twenty five years of service. LC accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle. When unable to attend he was known for asking his family to turn to his “Jesus Channel” to tune into the Word Network’s Services. “Papa”, as he was affectionately known by family, was the definition of a family man, he took great pride in his home and garden, and enjoyed hunting, bowling and relaxing on the patio while listening to his blues music. LC leaves in God’s care: son, Lawrence (Pam) Nichols; daughter, Pamela Montgomery (both of Flint MI); son In-law, Johnny Montgomery of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Nakeisha Nichols, Johnny (Nina) Montgomery III, Jerome (Shyvon) Montgomery, JacQuetta Thurman, Lawrence Anthony Nichols McCain, Lawrence Nichols Jr., all from Flint, MI; great grandchildren, Fred Jr., Amir, and Octavia Williams, Jerome Montgomery Jr., Elijah Nichols, Lawrence Anthony Nichols McCain Jr., Lawrence, and Sa’Lea Nichols, MonZ Blackburn, SeAirya, Deonta and Devion Blackburn, all of Flint, MI.; 3 brothers, Sinclair (Criss) Nichols of Long Beach, CA, Willie J. (Gwyndolyn) Nichols of Compton, CA, Claude (Ellen) Nichols of Los Angeles, CA; 5 sisters, Leoria (Levi)Richards of Baldwin Park, CA, Nerceil Coney of McComb, MS, Minnie (Charlie) Magee and Hazel (Arthur) Byrd of Gary, IN, and Myrtis (Charlie) Williams of McComb MS; 2 uncles, Luke Nichols of Amite, LA, and Eddie J. Brumfield of New Orleans, LA.; and a host of other family and friends including special nieces, Neva Johnson, Brenda Chapman and Pat Stocker; and nephews, Samuel Nichols, Marcola Powell and James Johnson. LC was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ethel Nichols; wife, Daisy Nichols; daughter, Terri Thurman; granddaughter, Jaquetta Montgomery; grandson, Anthony Blackburn; brothers, LS and Leroy Nichols; sisters, Berniece Williams and Althora Booth. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Carlos D. Williams and the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle family, and the caring nurses on the 4th floor of Genesys Regional Medical Center .
