WHITE, Mr. Lawrence - Age 76, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 25, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Bishop Phillip Thompson, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. White will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Lawrence Edward White was born in Arkansas on March 11, 1947, the son of Alvenia and Woodrow Henry White. Lawrence relocated to Flint, Michigan, alongside his family during his early years. He successfully completed his education at Flint Northern High School. From a young age, Lawrence grasped the significance of earning a livelihood. He embarked on his first job as a paperboy in his community, and those who were familiar with him would often hear him share entertaining stories about his days delivering newspapers and being a short-order cook. However, his aspirations didn't end there. Lawrence enlisted in the Army and faithfully served his country with utmost honor and distinction. After his military service, he returned home and found employment at General Motors, where he would eventually retire. Throughout his career, Lawrence's unwavering dedication and strong work ethic were evident to everyone who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Lawrence had a passion for grilling delicious meals for his loved ones, always ensuring that everyone left the table satisfied. Additionally, he had a habit of circling the block or, as he put it, “On patrol.” Lawrence was always nearby whenever his family needed him, ready to lend a helping hand. Lawrence had a knack for delivering hilarious punchlines that would keep those around him in laughter. When asked what was happening with him, he would jokingly reply, "Rent and taxes!" In summary, Lawrence Edward White's life was marked by hard work, service to his country, and a deep commitment to his family. Those fortunate enough to know him will forever cherish his stories, barbecues, and watchful presence. Although his health declined, Lawrence always maintained his strength and wittiness. Lawrence is survived by his beloved son, Lawrence J. (Karia) White of Swartz Creek, MI, and his cherished daughter, Kinda (Marvin) Henry of Grand Blanc, MI. Additionally, his stepchildren Trena (Michael) Reid from Eastpointe, MI, and Maurice (Hilary) Brady from Akron, OH, also survive him. He leaves to cherish sixteen grandchildren who will cherish his memory: Jamik White, Lyric White, London White, Jacob Bennett, India Bennett, Kinterra Tomlin, Kalayia Tomlin, Toccara Reid, Tearis (Jenny) Reid, Teara Reid, Michael Reid, Jemar Rozier, Selena Brown, all of Michigan and Pierce Brady, Mason Brady, Reese Brady from Akron, OH. Lawrence also leaves behind his dearest sister, Carolyn White, from Flint, MI; two aunts, Helen Brown from Detroit, MI, and Helen White from Los Angeles, CA; one uncle, Charles (Louise) White; one nephew, Ramonda Massey from Gulfport, MS, and one niece, Shaunette (Keith) Fortson from Phoenix, AZ. Special cousins Adell (Sandra) Hicks from West Bloomfield, MI, Lanetta Vann from Tulsa, OK, and Dennetta Waters from University Park, FL, will also deeply miss him, along with many other beloved family members. Lawrence White was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alvenia White, sisters Etta Marie White and Valeria Massey, grandparents Cato and Georgia Etta Hicks, and Sylvester and Carrie Rosabell White, as well as 13 aunts and uncles.
