ANDERSON, Mr. Lawrence - Age 65, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. James Manns, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Anderson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E, Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Lawrence Anderson was born July 27, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Teresa Anderson and Leonard Banks. He graduated from Chicago Public Schools. Lawrence moved to Flint, Michigan in 1969, where he was employed at Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation for 38 years, retiring in May of 2005. Lawrence enjoyed family times especially doing holiday times where he enjoyed camping and RV’s and relaxing at his favorite camping site. Mr. Lawrence Anderson leave to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 43 years, Gwendolyn C. Anderson; daughter, Delores Shaw of Milwaukee, WI; 4 sons, Carnell E. Smith of Sanford, FL, Lamont D. (Nakelia) Smith, Derrick J. Smith “E-Baller”, and Dewande A. Smith all of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Shaw of Chicago, IL, Lenora Shaw of Milwaukee, WI, Dewande, Tywan, Jaila, Jordan and Antonio, all of Flint, Carnell II and Johnnay of Atlanta, GA; 2 great-grandchildren, Aja and Jayne of Milwaukee, WI; 3 sisters, Jessie Pugh of Flint, Nitkita Banks and Blanche Green; 2 brothers, Roynell Banks, all of Chicago, IL, and Lenard (LaVone) Banks of Kankakee, IL; 2 sisters-in-law, Diana L. Smith of Flint and LaVone Banks of Kankakee, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Johnny Brown, Vernon Brown, both of Flint and Delores Smith of Cana, VA. Mr. Lawrence Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Teresa Anderson and Leonard Banks; sisters, Lenoa Wade, Naomi, Sueise, Carla, and Renee Banks; and brother, Willie Anderson. The family would like to express special thanks to the Mayberry family, special nieces, Pat Conrad of Chicago, IL, Romeki and Ronica Tatum, both of Flint, and Sequida Foster of Saginaw, MI; special nephew, Dequan McMillan, special friends of family and host of others.
