Mrs. Lawana Artis-Bryant

ARTIS-BRYANT, Mrs. Lawana - Age 71, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Anthony Artis, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Bryant will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. St. John 14:27 Mrs. Lawana Artis-Bryant was born January 6, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of George Robert and Vivian Mae (Jefferies) Artis. She graduated from Flint Southwestern High School and was a member of Vermont Christian Church. Lawana loved dancing, watching movies, house parties, skating, wrestling and spending time with her family. She was a humble, free spirited person, very selfless and would give you her last. Lawana enjoyed helping kids in the neighborhood and chaperoning school events. When Lawana liked someone, they had a friend for life. She was married to her beloved husband, Sheley Gene Bryant for 51 years. Mrs. Lawana Artis-Bryant leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Elizabeth (Leroy) Parks and Sheley (Timothy) Bryant-Scollock; son, Russell (Sarena) Bryant; 3 step-children, Alphonzo (Evelynn) Hatter, Valjean Brooks and Anthony (Forlida) Stinson; grandchildren, Dominque (Syndei) Bryant, Quinten (Shawana) Bryant, Shalesa Robinson, Natasha (Paris) Gooch, Antwuan, Ayesha and Antoinio Parks, Garbee Barbee, Aaleah Young, Dequan Smith and Mari Brooks; 5 great-granddaughters; special daughter, Dionne McGee; favorite sister, Jeraldine Freeman; 3 brothers, Ronald (Phyllis ) Artis, Jerome ( Juanita) Artis and Alan Artis; 15 nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Artis-Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, Sheley Gene “Shep” Bryant; parents, George Robert and Vivian Mae (Jefferies) Artis; grandparents, John Cone and Lula Willa (Eubanks) Jefferies; aunt, Margie Vaughn; uncle, Arnold Artis; father-in-law, Arden (Berniceteen) Bryant; sisters-in-law, Carole Artis and Ernestine, Juanita and Ruby Bryant; nephews, Lloyd and Reggie “Cookie” Bryant.
