STEVENSON, Mrs. Laura L. - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Stevenson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed Saturday during family hour only. Mrs. Laura L. Stevenson was born July 18, 1947 in Shuqualak, Mississippi, the daughter of Bessie Brooks and James Daniels. Upon graduating from Inkster High School, she moved to Illinois, where she married Curtis Stevenson, Jr. Having a son early in her teen’s naming him Leroy Daniels, after her marriage to Curtis, they were blessed with two sons, Curtis Stevenson III and Micheal Anthony Stevenson. Laura worked at St. Joseph in the Laundry Department. She moved to the Beecher District where she was blessed with some wonderful neighbors, Carol, Lawrence, Sally and O.T. Laura then returned back to church; where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She then went back to school to become a Nurse’s Aide and received her certificate. Later Laura met Leon Williams, and Derrick Leon Williams was born. She loved taking pictures, going to the park, spending time with little children, going to yard sales and the Goodwill. Laura may you rest in peace. Mrs. Laura L. Stevenson leaves to cherish her memory: 4 sons, Leroy (Patricia) Daniels, Curtis (Marcia) Stevenson III, Micheal Stevenson and Derrick Leon Williams, all of Flint; stepchild, Metter Rice of Grand Blanc, MI; 7 grandchildren, Leroy Daniels, Jr., Curtis Stevenson, IV, Jamar McKenzie and Qwinasha Richard, all of Flint, Shauntique Arieal Mae Stevenson, Faleesha Renee Stevenson, both of Lansing, MI and Jace Daniels of Marquette, MI; 2 great-grandchildren, Lamarien and Laniya Daniels, both of Flint; sister, Minnie (Robert, Sr.) Morton of Lansing, MI; 2 nieces, Tina Kurtz of Kansas City, MO and Linda Hudson of Lansing, MI; 2 nephews, Robert Morton, Jr. of Lansing, MI and Chris Morton of Langburg, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Leon Williams, Savanna McQueen, Judy Vaughn, Diane Sanders and Evelyn Abdul-Azeez. Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Brooks and James Daniels; and aunt, Luella Gilmore. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Timothy L. Stokes, Sr. and the Family Worship Christian Center family.
