HODGE, Ms. Laura - Age 69, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Minister Starry Hodge officiating, Bishop Odis A. Floyd, Senior Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Wednesday. Ms. Hodge will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Ms. Laura Gloriaetta Hodge was born on October 8, 1940 in Paducah, Kentucky. Laura was a graduate of Homer G. Phillips School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Homer G. Phillips Hospital. In November 1973, Laura moved to Flint, MI and was employed as a Registered Nurse at Flint General Hospital. In 1997 Laura received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care and Human Behavior. She was a Registered Nurse for over 47 years and employed as a Registered Nurse at Hurley Medical Center, retiring in December of 2002, with over 24 years of service. Laura accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church for over 31 years. She loved music and good cooking. Laura was a dedicated, knowledgeable and excellent Registered Nurse who really cared about her patients. Ms. Laura Gloriaetta Hodge leaves to cherish in her memory: daughter, Minister Starry Maria Hodge; niece, Gloria Brown; 2 great nieces, Venus Brown and Angel Brown; great-nephew, Yamon Brown; 2 great- great-nephews, Joshua and Iziah; and other relatives and friends. Ms. Hodge was preceded in death by her mother, Sibbie McClure; father, Ray McClure; 2 sisters, Bonnie McClure and Dorothy Marie Hawthorne; and brother, Leslie McClure. The family would like to express special thanks to Eld. Willie Mae Bacon, Bishop Odis A. Floyd and the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family, Shirley Lynn and Linda Wright.
