Larry Wilbourn

WILBOURN, Mr. Larry - Age 60, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Genesys Hospice. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 11 a.m. Monday. Mr. Larry Maurice Wilbourn was born June 1, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Woodrow and Georgia Wilbourn. At an early age Larry and his family relocated to Flint, where he attended school and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Larry moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he met and married Mary Floyd to whom he was a devoted husband and father. Later in life Larry became a licensed C.N.A. and had attended Mott Community College for the School of Culinary Arts. He loved fishing, reading a good game of pool and ole school mellow music. Larry also loved a great conversation and he had no problem telling anyone that, “I’m Larry Wilbourn”. He loved his family and if you were his friend you knew it. Mr. Larry M. Wilbourn leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Rochelle V. Floyd-Thomas and Octavia D. Floyd; 4 grandchildren, DeAndre M. Reese, Chyna M. Thomas, Deshon R. Floyd, Jr. and Tyler Collins, all of Atlanta, GA: brother, Michael Wilbourn of Memphis, TN; 3 nieces, Monica R. Floyd, Dereka Higgins and Reonda Glaspie, all of Detroit, MI; nephew, Woodrow Wilson Wilbourn III; 2 aunts, Inella Biggs of Flint and Alberta Gills of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Mary C. Earl of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Scott A. Floyd of Atlanta, GA; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Gene and Jackie Presley, Carlos Gaines, Venita R. Washington, George Kelly, Eleanor LeFlore, Frank and Samaster Robertson, Debra Hall and Don Lee Mayfield. These were very special people in his life. Mr. Wilbourn was preceded in death by his son, Deshon R. Floyd; parents; Woodrow and Georgia Wilbourn; brother, Woodrow Wilbourn, Jr.; and grandparents; uncle, Henry Biggs. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Hospice and their staff for the loving and excellent care they provided him during his last days.
