Mr. Larry Darnell Sanders

SANDERS, Mr. Larry D. - Age 67, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Memorial Reception Friday, March 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM- 3:00 PM at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Larry Darnell Sanders was born on October 23, 1954 in Greenville Mississippi, the youngest of seven children born to Golda and Harvey Sanders. The family left Mississippi when Larry was very young,and moved to Toledo Ohio. There he attended public schools and later graduated from Scott High School. After graduation, Larry worked several jobs, including his long-term employment at Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority. He remained at LMHA until he married Teresa (Sumner) in 1986, and moved his family to Flint, Michigan. Once in Michigan, Larry trained and gained employment as a Restorative Aide at Northfield Place Senior Care Facility, in Whitmore Lake, MI, until his retirement. Larry had a kind and humble spirit, and was loved and adored many, young and old. He was affectionately referred to as ‘Unc’ by the young people around him. Larry will most always be remembered by his witty character and ‘super cool’ persona. He has indeed left his mark in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Mr. Larry D. Sanders leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Teresa Sanders of Flint, MI; 3 daughters, twins, Stacy (Shawn) Jordan & Star (Ken Rison-fiancé) Campbell of Toledo, OH, Sharonda Sumner, of Houston TX; 2 sons, Larry (Melinda) Boyd of Minneapolis, MN, and Antonio Sanders of Flint; 8 grandchildren, Stephen Campbell, Tony Reynolds, twins, Stacy & Cornell Jones, Keion Walker, Larry Boyd Jr, Diontae Boyd, and Tiana Deihl; 3 great-grandchildren, Drew Reynolds, Kenzi Campbell & Emori Campbell; 4 sisters, Dorothy Lindsay, Essie Haynes, Barbara Sanders, all of Toledo, Ohio and Erline Richardson of Bronx, New York; sister-in-law, Carla (Charles) Jackson of Houston, TX; Nieces, Tanika Phinisee, Taryn (Ryan) Wilson, Kimyata Sanders, and Jonaya Ellis; nephew, Phillip Robinson; a host of other relatives and friends including close friends, Migial (Moosey) Watson, Jeff, and Dee Lee. Larry was preceded in death by his grandson, Deondrae Buford; parents, Harvey and Golda Sanders; sisters, Mary Hutchens and Patricia Sanders; niece, Sharon Lindsay; and nephew, Carl Lindsay.
