Deacon Larry Darnell Royster

ROYSTER, Deacon Larry Darnell - Age 60, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Acension Genesys Hospital-Grand Blanc, MI. Deacon Royster will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, December 28, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Deacon Larry Darnell Royster was born on May 17, 1960 in Flint MI. The fourth child and oldest son of Peter and Thelma (Callaway) Royster. He was a lifelong resident of Flint and a 1978 graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. Mr. Royster accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of the Foss Avenue Baptist Church later joining 2nd Chance Church, where he served actively as a Deacon. Larry worked for Hamady Brothers Food Market and then Consumer Powers Energy Company for 25 years, until he retired in 2019. He loved the Lord. Larry had a big heart and exemplified the same love for people both his mother and father had. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. After retiring, he took up the guitar as a hobby. Deacon Larry Darnell Royster leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Jahmal D. Royster of Houston, TX and Lawrence D. Royster (fiancé Madeleine Payton) of Saginaw, MI; 3 sisters, Ivy Blount and Linda (Herbert) Winfrey, all of Flint and Michelle Royster (Carlos Simms) of Bowie, MD. 5 sisters-in-law, Barbara Mason, Suzette (Byron) Smith, Renee Poole, Marilyn (Dennis) Watson and Tomeshia Quinn; 2 brothers-in- law, Thomas Lee (Olivia) Quinn and Roderick Quinn; nieces; Danielle (Ulysses) Singleton, Felicia Blount, Nakisha (Reginald and sons, Ryan & Regan) Wade; nephew, Greg (Tonya and children, Marsan and Morrai) Blount; aunt, Mary Callaway; uncle, Cornelius (Linda) Callaway; god-children, Daysha, Dre'lyn, & Cailyn Stewart and his little crew, Jaiden and GiGi; a host of cousins, other relatives and dear and loving friends including the 2nd Chance Church family and his lifelong classmates. Deacon Royster was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Royster; his parents; sister, Sharon Turner; brother, Richard Royster; brothers-in-law, Bobby Blount, Christopher Poole, Cheva Quinn and Wendell Quinn. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Ascension Genesys Hospital, Park Plaza Davita, Pastor Derrick Aldridge and 2nd Chance Church Family and special brother in law, Roderick Quinn.
