Mr. Larry Clifton Guice

GUICE, Mr. Larry Clifton - Age 66, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, April 15, 2019 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Monday. Mr. Guice will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Larry Clifton Guice was born on September 20, 1952, to Burr and Hattie (Magee) Guice in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the third of four children; 3 boys and 1 girl. Mr. Guice resided in Flint, Michigan for the majority of his life. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, where he distinguished his self as a talented football player and musician. Larry received an athletic scholarship to play football at Alabama A&M, where he majored in Psychology. His passion for playing the saxophone, led him on a journey around the country, touring with famous musicians such as, James Brown and Bootsy Collins, to name a few. Larry loved all genres of music and could play a song on his saxophone after only hearing it once. Larry was also an “intellect”, with a very broad vocabulary, who loved to talk politics and debate. He had a unique sense of humor for which only those close to him truly understood. Larry also loved to work with his hands. He was a great repairman and carpenter. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Larry enjoyed being a father and grandfather and sought every opportunity to spend time with his family. Mr. Larry Clifton Guice, age 66, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan Medical Center with his family by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory: brother, Ronnie Guice of Flint; daughter, Keesha Monique (Antoine Sr.) Garrett; grandson, Antoine J. Garrett, Jr.; granddaughter, Olivia Y. Garrett, all of Troy, MI; close and special friend Dortha A. Johnson of Flint, MI; 2 nieces, Patrice Mustaafaa of Chicago, IL, and Carmen Atterberry of Kansas City, MO; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Mr. Guice was preceded in death by: his father, Burr Guice; mother, Hattie (MaGee) Guice; sister, Evelyn Guice; and brother, Robert H. Guice.
