Mr. Larry Darnell Dent

DENT, Mr. Larry Darnell - Age 69, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, February 2, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Dent will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home with visitation Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Larry Darnell Dent was blessed upon this earth on May 11, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Geneva (Liggins) and Jesse J. Dent. Mr. Dent attended Flint Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1973.” Following in the footsteps of his older brothers, he became a versatile athlete, excelling in various sports. In 1972, Larry assumed the role of captain for the football team, gaining the renowned nickname "The Roadrunner" from the Flint Journal. Mr. Dent demonstrated proficiency in various sports, including football, track and field, baseball, tennis, and bowling. In Larry's later years, his athleticism led him to new interests such as ballroom dancing, and developed a passion for golf. He also obtained his associate degree in Accounting where he self-proclaimed himself "THE TAX MAN". Outside of his professional endeavors, Larry found joy in hobbies like travel, photography, and baking. He devoted over 40 years of dedicated service as a committed employee at Al Serra Auto Plaza. Larry Darnell Dent leaves to honor his memory: daughter, Janeen Dent (Willie Stewart II); 5 grandchildren, Jaqui McNabb, Dariet Beaty Jr., Ja'Nya Beaty, Nakenzie Metcalf and Reina Stewart; 3 sisters, Ernestine (Dent) Battle, Marilyn Dent and Angela Dent; the mother of his children, Jacquelyn Hardy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Glenn Foster Sr., Norphlet Reeves Jr., Shanon Pascal, and Faye Orange, Camille Gillard. Al Serra family, and Wednesday Night Bowling Team. Larry Dent was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacquece Dent; grandson, Keon'te Whitfield; parents, Jesse and Geneva (Liggins) Dent; 2 brothers, Emmanuel (Dent) Muhammad and Jesse Dent; sister, Tammie Dent; 2 uncles, Ulysses "Uncle Sam" Liggins and Otis Liggins; Aunt Pinky Brown; and sister-in-law, Sheryl Dent.
