CLARKE, Mr. Larry E. - Age 62, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Pastor Latrelle Holmes officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Bedford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Clarke will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Larry E. Clarke was born April 27, 1948 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Willie and Sarah Clarke. Larry graduated from Northwestern High School “Class of 1966”. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for 2 years. Larry worked for Chevrolet Metal Fabricating, a division of General Motors for 40 years, retiring in 2006. He loved going fishing and listening to his music. Whenever you called him on the phone his first 3 words were “Hey What’s Happening”. Whenever you needed him he was always there. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. Mr. Larry E. Clarke leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Cora Clarke; 2 sons, Kevin Clarke, all of Flint and Larry E. (Deonda) Clarke II of Atlanta, GA; stepdaughter, Demora (Steven) Lyons; 5 grandchildren, Khamilia, Exavier and Gabrielle Clarke, all of Flint, Kalah and Steven Jr. Lyon, both of Arlington, TX; 2 sisters, Joyce (Tyrone) Conner of Flint, Gwendolyn (Charles) Harvey of Flushing, MI; brother, Alvin (Bettie) Clarke of Grand Blanc, MI; 2 nieces, Anita Clarke and Paula Garth (Larry Brown), both of Flint; 5 nephews, Terrence Clarke of Atlanta, GA, Raymond Conner of Flint, Alvin (Lissette) Clarke, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Jermaine (Judi) and Nicholas (Mosha) Garth, both of Flint; 5 aunts, Bettie Barnett, Hazel Clarke, both of Flint, Josie Wells of Atlanta, GA, Marge Smith, Johnnie Jacques, both of Chicago, IL and Carrie (Dan) Ford of Mattison, MS; 4 uncles, Alphonso (Yvonne) Clarke of Tchula, MS, Edward (Bernice) Clarke, John (Pearl) Clarke of Chicago, IL and Bennie Clarke of Nashville, TN; a host of cousins including special cousin, Eddie Lee Sanders; mother-in-law, Annie Johnson, both of Flint; sister-in-law, Tanya (Michael) Newhouse; brother-in-law, Darrell R. (Mary) Johnson, both of Ft. Worth, TX; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Andre, Dennis, Percy, Wallace, Julius, Ernest, Lewis, Leroy, Phil, Duncan, Rico, Maxie and also play “Wife” June. Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sarah Clarke; uncle and aunt, Fred and Modessa Clarke, Big Uncle, Fred Clarke; and his children’s mother, Jennifer Clarke.
