BURGESS, Ms. LaQuita - Age 48, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Medilodge of Montrose. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, July 11, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Friday, July 11, 2025. Ms. Burgess will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Laquita Burgess, affectionately known as “Tinky,” of Flint, Michigan, passed away on June 21,2025, at the age of 48 at Medilodge of Montrose. Born on May 10, 1977, in Flint, she spent her entire life bringing color, laughter, and love into the lives of all who knew her. Tinky was a light — full of energy, creativity, andpersonality. She had a passion for the arts and self-expression, finding joy in dancing, singing, drawing, watching movies, and listening to music. Wherever she went, her vibrant spirit left an impression. She had a big laugh, a bright smile, and a playful nature that made people feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved. Her energy was magnetic — people gravitated toward her because she made life more fun, more joyful, and more real. Tinky was deeply devoted to her family, especially her beloved daughter, Tashala Burgess, who was her pride and joy. Laquita Burgess leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Tashala Burgess of Flint; brother , Christopher Burgess; nephew, Tywan Burgess of Flint; aunt, Lethia Kelly; cousins, Amire R. Baker; Jabree Gipson, Nassir Sprinkle of Flint; great aunt, Shirley G. Adair; uncle, Gregory Adair, both of Flint a host of cousins, other elatives and friends including her child’s father Tommy Williams of flint Laquita Burgess was preceded in death by her grandmother; Maple Jones, brother, Delvie D. Burgess; mother, Mable Burgess ; Dad Samuel Bright; great grandparents, Carter and Chessie Milton; uncle , Cheste Lamar Kelly; aunt Rosie Burgess, 2 great aunts, Katherine Turner and Velma J. Jackson.— all of whom she loved deeply and shared a strong bond with. Tinky was the kind of person who brought people together — through laughter, music, a spontaneous dance, or a warm, uplifting conversation. Her playful heart, enthusiastic spirit, and loving nature will be sorely missed but never forgotten. A celebration of Laquita’s life will be held at Moons Funeral Home, with details to be shared with friends and family in the coming days. Loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor the life of a woman who gave so much love to those around her. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4 Though she has departed this world, Laquita “Tinky” Burgess lives on in the laughter she shared, the art she created, the music she loved, and the hearts of those who knew her.
