JOHNSON, Mrs. LaDonna W. - Age 85, passed away Sunday, January 7, 20024 at her residence. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. LaDonna Anita Watson Johnson was born May 30, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest daughter of 4 children and the oldest child of Logan and Ysabelle Watson. LaDonna graduated from St. Anselan Elementary and Carver High School. She attended NJU and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. LaDonna helped start the local organization Tau Delta Sigma which later became Delta Omicron Chapter of alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. In August of 1961, LaDonna married her college sweetheart, Wendell Johnson. After graduation she work for CPS as a Primary Classroom Teacher and later as a Primary Reading Teacher. She retired in 1993. It wasn’t unusual to see her tutoring relatives and neighbors children whenever she could. LaDonna Anita Johnson, age 85, gracefully journeyed into eternal rest on January 7, 2024 in Flint, Michigan. She was a cherish pillar of faith, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother and a beloved grandmother. LaDonna’s life was a living testament of gratitude and reverence for all of God’s creation. She embraced her role as a humble servant of the Lord, radiating love and compassion to all who crossed her path. Her unwavering faith guided her every action, and she humbly acknowledged the blessings bestowed upon her. Wendell Johnson, her loving husband, stood by her side as they walked hand in hand on their spiritual journey. Together, they built a legacy of faith and devotion that will forever inspire those who follow in their footsteps. LaDonna’s son, Craig Scott Johnson and (daughter-in-law), Sharonda Johnson, were blessed to witness her unwavering faith and carry forward her teachings of love and compassion. LaDonna’s grandchildren, Brittany Johnson, April Johnson, Craig W.L. Johnson, Shacrai Johnson, Shauna Johnson, Lemoney Williams and Sharae Johnson, were the apple of her eye and the recipients of her boundless loved and guidance. Her 13 great-grandchildren were blessed to have experienced the warmth of her embrace and the wisdom of her words. She also leaves in God’s care, brother, Michael Watson; nieces, Donna Watson, Deneene Watson, Deena Watson, Debbie Watson and Michelle Watson; nephews, Logan Watson III and Michael Watson Jr.; sisters-in-law, Cozel Smith and Carol Taylor; brother-in-law, Jeffery Buchanan. LaDonna was preceded in death by her brothers, Lamont Watson and Logan Watson Jr., who now rest in the loving arms of the Almighty. Her parents, Ysabelle Watson and Logan Watson Sr., instilled in her a deep reverence for the beauty and sanctity of life. LaDonna’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to education, as she believed that knowledge was a divine gift to be cherished and shared. As a devoted teacher, she nurtured young minds, instilling in them the values of compassion, kindness and a thirst for knowledge. Her impact on her students lives will forever be cherished. Beyond her dedication to education, LaDonna found solace in the simple joys that God’s creation offered. Shopping became an act of gratitude , as she delighted in providing for others. Reading allowed her to immerse herself in the wisdom of the ages, deepening her understanding of the world. Creating cherished photo albums was a testament to her gratitude for the precious moments shared with loved ones. The sacred rites and rituals honoring life and legacy of LaDonna Anita Johnson will be reverently conducted by the compassionate staff of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home located in Flint, Michigan. They will guide the family and loved ones through this time of remembrance and provide solace and support. LaDonna’s unwavering faith, humility and boundless love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
