WILLIAMS, Mr. Lacie - Age 87, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005 at his residence. Family Hour 10:30AM Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Friday. Mr. Lacie Williams was born April 18, 1918 in Pioneer, Louisiana, the son of Robert and Susie (Kenner) Williams. Lacie was a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1996. He was a hardworking man, and was proud of the fact that in 44 years of service at General Motors, he missed less than 44 days of work. After working on a special project at the Chevrolet Plant, a few presses had broken down and ran behind on parts. Mr. Williams stayed three days straight to complete the job. His supervisor later asked him what job he wanted, he replied with "to be trained as a millwright to make more money to feed my family." His request was granted and he later helped others become millwrights as well. Lacie was known for working hard and rigging something until it worked. Wires could go from here to there, but if the buzzer buzzed or the light came on, he was satisfied. Other than working his next love was his dogs. There have been many over the years and his last two; Lucy and Mobley were dear to his heart. When he was in rehabilitation his dear friend Jerome brought them by and let them run around outside his room window. Seeing his dogs, Lacie was determined to leave rehab and be home with his dogs! Mr. Lacie Williams leaves to cherish his memory: 4 daughters, Barbara Scruggs of Decatur, GA, Guest "Gustina" Jones of Flint, Betty (Robert) Glover of Danville, KY, Chelley Williams of Houston, TX; step-daughter, Janice Robinson of Austin, TX; 3 sons, Willie (Debra) Williams of Grand Blanc, Donald Williams of Flint, Lemon (Verdie Sue) Williams of Flint; 9 granddaughters, Sharon Williams of Kennesaw, GA, Delores Hollins, Gloria Scruggs, Robin McEachin, Sharee Cox, Sabrina Jones, Monica Southward of Flint, Pamela Clemens of Toledo, OH; step-granddaughter, Mercedes Robinson of Austin; 9 grandsons, Bryant and Tyrone Cox, Robert (Sharri) Glover, Willie Williams, Jr., James Jones III, of Flint, Marcus (Shelly) Glover, Lemon Williams, Jr., all of Grand Rapids, Julius Williams of Birmingham, AL; step-grandson, Marcello Robinson of Austin, TX; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Susie Dunn of Detroit; 3 brothers, Lemon (Alberta), Willard (Mary), and Clemon Williams, all of Flint; brother-in-law, Andrew Watters of Detroit; a host of family and friends including special friends, Jerome Threlkeld, Richard Journagin and Lloyd Ollier. Mr. Lacie Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susie Williams; siblings, Robert Williams, Jr., Corneilus Williams, Gussie Spencer, Artrie Watters, Velma Campbell, Aretha McNeeley, Mildred Allen; daughter, Thelma Cox; 2 grandchildren, Tanya and Dina Cox.
