Mrs. LaBertha "Lee" White

WHITE, Mrs. LaBertha “Lee” - Age 82, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, 5802 Dupont St. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Rev. Dr. Mickarl D. Thomas, Sr. officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11 a.m. Monday. Mrs. White will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. LaBertha White was born April 15, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Willie and Evelyn Odom. Mrs. LaBertha White was employed at Hurley Medical Center and later employed at Genesee Mental Health, retiring after many years of service. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved studying the word. She was a member of Vernon Chapel AME Church for many years. She was the matriarch of her seven daughters and family. LaBertha was united in marriage in 1947 to Charlie White, the love of her life. Mrs. LaBertha White leaves to cherish her memories: 7 daughters, Patricia (Stanley) Gill, Nola Walker, Gwendolyn (Rufus) Edwards, Linda (Solomon) Outlaw, Cassandra White, Sharon Lusane and LaVonda (Douglas) Wilkerson all of Flint; 18 grandchildren, a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Modene White of Detroit, MI and Annie Pearl Austin of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Elmo White of Flint; special cousins, Dorothy Sanders, Earlene Ray, Henry (Jackie) Thomas, Vance (Ruth) Jones and Adolph Bolton, all of Tennessee; a host of nieces and nephews including Barbara (Dave) Veasley of Flint, Lillian (Willie) Dickerson and Iola White all of Mt. Morris, MI; LaBern and DeAndre Sanders and Leonard Little, all of Tennessee, Otis Martin, Larry White and Larry Tackett, all of Flint; a host of relatives and friends including special friends, Susie Brown, Lorraine Gaines, Marvin Baker and the entire Hopkins family. Special thanks to Dale (Deborah) Branch and the Grace Hospice staff. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie White; parents, Willie and Evelyn Odom; grandparents, Jorden and Ellen Thomas. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Dr. Mickarl Thomas Sr., Rev. Roosevelt (Birdie) Brown and the Vernon Chapel AME Church family for their kind deeds; Jake and Bernice Kendall and Dorothy Glenn.
