Mr. Kevin Tyrone Jones

JONES, Mr. Kevin Tyrone - Age 65, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Medilodge, Grand Blanc. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Elder Jarroun Freeman Jones, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Kevin Tyrone Jones was born November 26, 1952 in Florence, Alabama, the son of Barbara (Woods) Jones and Ernest Warren. He migrated to Flint, Michigan with his parents Charlie and Barbara Jones at the age of 2. Kevin attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1970.” He also attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and earned a Bachelor in Culinary Arts degree in 1979. That same year Kevin married Lorraine Freeman. They lived in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI where he was employed as the Director of all Dining Facilities at U of M from 1979 to 1988. He worked as Personal Chef for Don Monaghan (owner of the Detroit Tigers and Domino Farms), and Executive Chef at various restaurants throughout his career. Kevin returned to Flint in 1993. He loved to dress. Kevin enjoyed playing Chess, listening to jazz, taking pictures and being with family and friends. Mr. Kevin Tyrone Jones leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Rachedia T. Jones, Jassmyn M. Horne, both of Flint and Nerissa M. Pittman of Ypsilanti, MI; son, Elder Jarroun D. Freeman-Jones of Killeen, TX; 4 grandchildren, Amonte Piearie Pittman of Ypsilanti, MI, Morgan Alaina Jones of Flint, Alexandra Renee Necole Rochon of Killeen, TX and Jenasys Amara Freeman-Jones; mother, Barbara Jones; 2 sisters, Ruby G. Spears and Mary L. Jones; brother, Kenneth H. Jones, all of Flint; former spouse, Lorraine Jones; 19 nieces; 14 nephews; 3 aunts; 7 uncles; 1 sister-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his fathers, Charlie Jones and Ernest Warren; sister, Jennifer Ernest; and brother, Charles Jones III. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center CCU staff and Select Specialty Hospital for all the care, compassion and support.
