BERGER, Mr. Kevin - Age 55, departed this life, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Family Worship Center Church Intl, G-3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Pastor Timothy R. Stokes, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Friday. Mr. Berger will in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Kevin Berger was born on July 3, 1956 in Huntington, West Virginia to Sam Berger, Jr. and Gladys W. Brantley. A proud Northern Viking, Kevin also attended Ferris State University on a football scholarship. In 2007, he retired from “Buick City”, a division of General Motors, after 31 years of service. No matter where you encountered him; Red’s Barbershop, Afro Knot, corner stores, Northern track, at work, at play or the Clio Rd. Big John’s, you were left with a lasting impression. A true icon of the North Side, Kevin enjoyed talking, sports, especially football and his beloved Lakers, however he spent most of his time teaching and mentoring young people, he was never without an opinion or advice. He loved his family, had an infectious smile and laugh and truly lived life to the fullest. Mr. Kevin Berger leaves to his cherished sweet memories: daughters, Monica (Clarence) Caldwell and Bryea Stintson; 2 grandchildren, Keondus “Little Kevin” Miller and Jasia Caldwell; sister, Dawnette (Gus) Jefferson; 2 nieces, Onda Berger and Audra (Floyd) Bell; 5 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; special friends, Ronald Jamieson, Andre Mabry, Ruby Spears, Andrea Hollins, Michael Cobbins, Kelvin Kimble and Donald Tidwell; as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles. Mr. Berger was preceded in death by his father, Sam Berger, Jr.; mother, Gladys W. Brantley; twin brother, Keith Berger; grandparents, A. T. & Audrey Neighbors; and stepfather, Leon “Popsy” Brantley.
