SPRUCE, Mr. Kendell A. AKA Bryson S. Martel - Age 47, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Brian's House. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, June 25, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2PM. Family and Friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Bryson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. Kendall Alphonso Spruce, AKA “Bryson Martel” was born February 8, 1963 in Gurdon, Arkansas, the son of Albert Floyd Spruce and Emma J. Cunningham. Kendall came to Flint in the mid 1970’s. He attended Public Schools in Arkadelphia, AR and Flint. Kendall accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Charlie Thrower; founder of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. He was formally employed at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Kendall was affiliated with Wellness Services, Black Men of Special Change and YOUR Center. He had a giving heart and especially enjoyed cooking southern style dinners for his family and friends. Kendall also enjoyed listening to WFLT Radio and was well known by radio personality, Sis. Delores. He would call to extend birthday greetings to his family and friends often before they would tune in to listen. Payne of Davison, MI; stepmother, Billie Spruce; 4 sisters, Sandra Payne, Robin Farris, Lisa Payne, all of Flint and Shasta (William) Bohannon of Atlanta, GA; 2 brothers, Jeffery Payne of Davison, MI and Vincent Payne of Saginaw, MI; nieces, Tiffany Payne of Warren, MI, Brittany Farris of Flint, Tangella and Tianna Bohannon, both of Atlanta, GA, Otisa Lynn of Davison, MI and Toni Gibson of Flint; nephews, Tamario (Sherrine) Bohannon and Tamario II, all of Atlanta, GA, Tony Gibson, Jr., Tristian Payne, both of Flint, Christian Montgomery of North Carolina, Adrian Love-Guy and Dereion Farris; aunts, Lois Cunningham of Mt. Morris and Shirley M. Enemuoh; 3 uncles, Johnny and Tony Cunningham, both of Arkansas, and Harry Cummingham of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Min. Cary Brassfield, Rev. Kenneth R. Gillard, godmother, Bernice “Ms. B” McMillon; special cousins, Desser Ann “Dessa” Webb, Carrie Nelson, Otis (Virginia) Releford and Randy Cunningham. Mr. Spruce was preceded in death by his fathers, Alfred Floyd Spruce and Clarence Edward Payne; grandparents, Johnny and Maude Ethel Cunningham and Carrie and Eugene Snowden; sister, Danieka Payne; nephew, Jordan Hardy; and aunt, Bobbie Jean King. The family would like to express special thanks to the staffs of McLaren Regional Medical Center, Brian’s House, Dr. Forstahl, Robert Milks and Wellness Services, Betina Campbell and YOUR Center, Carriage Town Apartments\Rosewood Manor staff and Min.
