Mr. Ken Yolando Walker

WALKER, Mr. Ken Yolando. – age 47, departed this earth and went home to his heavenly Father on Monday, April 8, 2013 at his residence in Sandy Springs, GA. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12 noon, Pastor Latrelle Holmes, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m Monday. Mr. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Ken Y. Waker was born November 30, 1965 in Flint, Michigan. He was the oldest child born to Howard and Annie Walker. He began his education in the Flint Community Schools and graduated from Hamady High School in 1983. Ken also attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio. He was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.R. Gordon. Ken had a love for music and was a gifted pianist. He trained under the leadership of his aunt, Cinda Anderson. When the family transitioned to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church Ken used his gift for the Lord by becoming the church’s musician under the leadership of Rev. John T. Boyd. Ken later joined New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Odis A. Floyd. He was a member of the King’s Men and the New Destiny Choirs. Upon relocating to Atlanta he united with New Beginnings Full Gospel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop James Morton. Ken loved spending time with his family, especially the kids who affectionally called him “Uncle”. Before his health declined he was a well known server working at Red Lobster and Cracker Barrel. Mr. Ken Y. Walker leaves to cherish his memory: father, Howard Walker of Flint; grandfather, William Saines of Flint; two sisters, Kim (Shon) Burney of Flint, Ketesa (Henderson) Allen of Grand Blanc, MI; one brother, LaTroy Childress of Sterling Heights, MI; niece, Kierra Walker of Flint; two nephews, Jayden and Jorden Allen of Grand Blanc, MI; great-niece, Kaylin Walker of Flint; four aunts, Sandra (Charles) Boseman, Patricia Saines, both of Flint, Pauline Abney and Betty Daniels, both of Dallas, TX; eleven uncles, William Edward (Crystal) Saines of Burton, MI Stanley (Willie) Saines of Flint, Terry (Patience) Saines of Sterling, VA and Dewayne Saines of Temple, TX, Henry Walker, James Walker, Emmitt Walker, Robert (Rosie) Walker, all of Flint, Samuel (Beth) Walker of Grand Blanc, MI, Bennie Walker of Mt. Morris, MI and Donnie (Madeline) Walker of Trenton, NJ; four great-aunts, Emma (Theodore) Wiley, Susie George, Cinda (Leon) Anderson and Gloria Parram, all of Flint; great-uncle, Jim (Patricia) Franklin; special God-sister, “precious baby girl”, Mariah Hines of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Walker; grandparents, Alice Saines, Emmitt and Beatrice Walker. The family would like to special thanks to Greater Galilee Baptist Church, New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church and cousin, Qiana Walker.
