SMITH, Mr. Kelvin L. II - Age 22, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Pastor Kelly Richards, officiating, Pastor Patrick Sanders, Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Kelvin Louis Smith, II was born December 20, 1989 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Lisa Flowers and Kelvin Smith, Sr. He was a lifelong member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. Kelvin was a 2008 graduate of Flint Central High School, where he was on the football and track team, and the Architectural Engineering Program at Genesee Area Skill Center. Upon graduation, Kelvin furthered his education in Architectural Engineering at Mott Community College. He also participated in the Affirmative Action March. His passion was music, computers, auto mechanic, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He loved helping his nephews and niece. Kelvin’s bright smile made his a friend to everyone he met. He leaves to cherish his sweet memories: loving parents, Lisa Flowers and Kelvin (Melanie) Smith, Sr.; 2 special sisters, Shavon Flowers and Jasmine Smith; grandmothers, Betty Flowers and Evelyn Smith, all of Flint; step grandparents, Floyd and Mary Woolfolk of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 special aunts, Roxie (Lionel) Lee of Pemberton, NJ, Karen (Julis) Strange and Lolita Allen, both of Flint; 7 special uncles, Orlando Smith, Reginald Smith, Kenneth Smith, Tyler Flowers, Merrill (Sherry) Flowers, all of Flint, Darwin Smith of Dallas, TX and Tony Carter of Muskegon, MI; 2 dearly loved nephews, Terrence Pitts and Jaylan Flowers; one dearly loved niece, Endiyah Savage, all of Flint; 5 great aunts; 3 great uncles; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special aunt, Alma (Leroy) Pratt; special cousins, Adrian Duke, Keon, Deion, Merrill and Mark Flowers, special friends, Quinten Fontenot, DeWayne Younger II, Tamonta Hill and Brandon Sanders; godmother, Toni Purvis, godfather, DeWayne Younger; honorary mothers, Kathy Reed and Joelene Fontenot. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, Baby Martin Smith; grandparents, George and Parthin Flowers and Robert Smith; and cousins, Reginald Smith II and Preston Flowers.
