Mr. Kelly Giles Jr.

GILES, JR., Mr. Kelly - Age 89, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral services commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Giles will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Kelly Giles, Jr. was born August 1, 1925 in Flint, Michigan, the youngest of three children born to the union of Kelly Giles, Sr. and Della Ratliff. He attended Flint Public Schools. Kelly served in the United States Army at the end of World War II and was Honorably Discharged. He was employed at Sears, Roebuck and Co., National Cash Register and Turnstedt which became Fisher Guide, a division of General Motors Co., retiring in 1994. He also operated Kelly Giles Tax Service from home along with providing some Bookkeeping Services. Kelly greatly enjoyed baseball and would take his grandsons to the Detroit Tigers games in the old Tiger Stadium. He accepted Christ at an early age under the ministry of B.M. Nottage in Detroit, MI, gaining a firm understanding of the Word of God. Kelly was affiliated with the Brethren churches in Detroit, MI for many years. As an avid Bible student he searched the scriptures and studied New Testament Greek. Kelly always express his longing to see Jesus face to face. That desire became a reality for him when he passed from this life on December 21, 2014. Mr. Kelly Giles, Jr. leaves in God’s care: devoted and patient wife of 32 years, caregiver who at time he has referred to as a Proverbs 31 wife, Helen Giles; also saddened by his homegoing are two children, son, Kelly Reuben Giles (LetLet) of Manila, Philippines; daughter, Delcene Elizabeth (Rev. Jobe) Hughley of Detroit, MI; four grandsons, Bryan Patrick (Krystal) Giles of Detroit, MI, Tony Vaness (Becky) Giles of Guam, David Koji Giles of Georgetown, SC and Jason Philip Hughley of Detroit, MI; granddaughter, Linda Kii (Richard) Garite of Fairfield, CA; niece, Mary Lou Tolbert of Baldwin, MI; devoted and attentive niece, Edradean (Pastor John) Thornton; 2 brothers-in-law, Lester Hawkins of Flint and Min. Eddie (Bonnie) Hawkins of Cleveland, OH; two sisters-in-law, Verna Henderson of Atlanta, GA and Claudia Beasley of Los Angeles, CA; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Giles was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Allison Ranea Giles; father, Kelly Giles, Sr.; mother, Della Ratliff; brother, A. Alonzo Giles; sister, Eleanor Hughes. The family would like to express special thanks to Bro. and Sis. Byron and Sherri Tapo for continued friendship and assistance to the family.
