DEEN, Mr. Keffie - Age 80, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026, in Flint, MI. In Loving Memory of Keffie Alfred Oldman Deen "K-Boi" February 18, 1946 – June 30, 2026 Some people leave an impression the moment they enter a room. Intelligent, charismatic, and unapologetically direct, Keffie possessed a quiet confidence that naturally drew others to him. He spoke his mind without hesitation, and his wisdom, wit, and conviction earned the respect of those around him. To his family and brothers from Bo School, he would always be affectionately known as "K-Boi," a nickname that reflected friendships spanning nearly six decades. Born on February 18, 1946, in Bo District, Sierra Leone, to Mary Brewah and Keffie Oldman Deen, he was originally given the name Alfred Laggah. As he entered Bo School, he proudly assumed his father's name, becoming Keffie Alfred Oldman Deen. In 1971, Keffie came to the United States with determination and a vision for a brighter future. While building a new life, he never lost sight of his roots or his family. Through years of sacrifice and perseverance, he helped bring his beloved mother, sisters, nieces, and nephews to America. Education remained one of the defining passions of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a Master of Arts in Economics from Eastern Michigan University. He inspired generations of family to pursue higher education, believing knowledge was life's greatest investment and the key to opportunity. Professionally, Keffie devoted more than 30 years to General Motors, AC Delco, and Delphi before retiring in 2007, earning the respect of colleagues through his dedication and steady leadership. Beyond his career, he found joy in running, cooking, and gathering family around the table. His meals reflected his Sierra Leonean heritage and his appreciation for cultures around the world. Keffie married Corene Deen, with whom he had two children. He later married Delores (Deen. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Ahmie-Woma Farkas, Tara Stevenson, and Keffie A.O. Deen II; his former wife, Delores Deen; his grandchildren, Johnathan A. Farkas, Evangelina A. Farkas, and Sean Stevenson; his great-grandson, Augustus Johnathan Farkas; his brothers and beloved sisters. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Ahmie Vandi Brewah; his parents, Keffie Oldman Deen and Mary Brewah Laggah; and his siblings, Zainabu Deen, Petan Kabba, and Oldman Deen. Keffie's legacy lives on in the family he loved and the generations he inspired through his belief in education, hard work, and service to others.
