WILLIAMS, Mrs. Katherine - Age 88, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 1:30 P.M. Saturday, March 12, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Minister Eugene McMillian officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Katherine Bertha Williams was born February 15, 1928 in Charleston, Missouri, the daughter of Buddy Crutcher and Idal Gillespie. She grew up in Charleston, MO and later moved to Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Williams gained employment Fisher Body Coldwater and eventually worked for Flint Truck & Bus, divisions of General Motors until her retirement. She was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Chester Payton, Sr. Katherine loved to cook, sew, Crossword Puzzles and traveling until she was unable. She was a faithful member of the mission. Mrs. Katherine Bertha Williams leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Barbara Jean (fiancée, Warren Taylor) Butler of Flint; special god-daughter, Patricia “Pat” Sanders; 2 grandchildren, Sadé (Phillip) Blanks of Swartz Creek, MI and Jermaine Embry of Albuquerque, NM; brother, James Emanuel; special niece, Latanya D. Williams, sisters-in-law, Pauline (George) Fredrick, Isabel Black, special sister-in-law, Elzie Garner, special sister-in-law, Thyra Williams, Ruby Williams, Alice William and Ella Williams; brothers-in-law, Winford Williams and special brother-in-law, David Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Carrie Hamlett, Watella Atkinson, Laurabel Watson, Charlene Sims and Bell Nance. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by loving husband, Cecil J. Williams; parents, Buddy Crutcher and Idal Gillespie; brother, Napoleon Emanuel.
