BROWN, Mrs. Katherine - Age 58, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Brian's House. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Pastor Albert L. Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Katherine (Johnson) Brown was born June 21, 1951 in LaGrange, Georgia to William and Carrie Harris. In 1953 her family relocated to Flint, where Katherine attended Flint Public Schools graduating from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1970”. In her early years, Katherine worked for McFarland Home For The Aged. Mrs. Brown was a devoted Christian and fellowshipped at Macedonia Missionary Baptist church. She loved sports; she played softball, basketball, bowled and shot pool. Katherine also enjoyed making quilts. Mrs. Brown loved her family. She leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Tywana (Hans) Smith, Meschell (Darryl) Stevens, Jacquette and Monique Brown; 3 sons, Charles Ray, Rashid Kyron and Anthony Johnson; 8 grandchildren; mother, Carrie Harris, all of Flint; 3 sisters, Edna (Hewlett) Brown of LaGrange, GA, Betty Marshall of Flint and Mary (Robert) Wicker of Southfield, MI; special sister, Maxine (Daniel) Murphy; brother, Willie (Sharon) Harris; 6 aunts, Mary Roberts, Lizzie Cannon, Dorthy (Jimmie) Hinkle, Ethel Hutchinson, Eunice (Charles) Woods and Ruby Johnson; 4 uncles, Robert, Bennie (Carrie) and James Hall and Paul Dallis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special people in her life, Dennis Barbee, Irma Urquhart, Mother Barbee, Denise Cox, Vickie Greene, Rowonna Tally and Cecilia Williams. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father, William Harris; grandparents; aunts, Annie Hall and Ann Bowles and uncle, Idus Hall.
