Karen Price

PRICE, Ms. Karen Denise - Age 52, passed away June 20, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m., Bishop Odis A. Floyd officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 12:30 p.m. Friday. There will be no public viewing. Ms. Karen Denise Price was born May 16, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of John Price and Helen Price. Karen moved to Flint in 1973, where she began school at Flint Northwestern High School. Upon arrival, she became a faithful member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. Karen worked for the City of Flint, beginning in 1981 until she retired in 2008. Her hobbies included: bowling, golfing, crocheting and traveling with friends. Karen will always be remembered as the consummate mother, sister and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, JaQuaya Buford of Flint, Riana Buford of Washington, DC and Kanayko Buford of Flint; 2 sons, Trevor (Latoya) Buford of Atlanta, GA and Derry Buford; father of her children, Willie James Buford, both of Flint; 16 grandchildren, DeOndrae, Demetrius, Jazmine, Caress, Keion, LeTrelle, Ty’Kese, JaQaila, Trevor Jr., Jamila, Nickolas, Miguel, JaNelle, Markell, Tayshaun and Jacari; parents, Helen Price and John Price; 2 sisters, Vickie (Greg) Jones and Tonya Price, all of Flint; brother, Donald Price of Bay City, MI; 4 nieces, ChaQuinta, Geonika and Jazmaine; 2 nephews, Gregory and Javon, all of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, April Pea, Cindy Cox, Catherine Gardener, Jackie Allen, Ethel Hubbard, Valeria Shepard, Ethel Johnson, Pamela Coleman, Twanda Plair, Teresa Marshall and Chris Mark. Ms. Price was preceded in death by her niece, QeTurah Jones; uncles, James Ingram, Odie and Robert Sudberry; aunt, Rosia Lee Scott; and cousin, Ronald Reed.
