OWENS-FLOWERS, Mrs. Karen Millicent - Age 52, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Bethlehem Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith, 3401 M.L. King Ave., with Homegoing Service 11 a.m. District Eld. Phillip J. Thompson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Flowers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Karen Millicent Owens-Flowers was born June 28, 1959 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Leslie and Bernice L. Owens. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Bethlehem Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith. Karen graduated from Flint Northwestern “Class of 1977” and studied at Michigan State University. She was employed at the State of Michigan for 22 years at the Department of Human Services as a case manager of various special projects within Baker College, One Stop and most recently at Bryant Elementary School. Karen was a member of the Bethlehem Temple Nurses Guild, Women’s and Mass Choirs and Usher Board. Her hobbies were traveling, shopping, decorating and reading. Karen had a sense of humor, class, wit and ability to make friends easily. She leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sisters, Kymberly (Eddie) Lucas and Camille Owens, affectionately known as “Val”; 3 brothers, Craig Owens, Kevin Owens and Kerry Owens affectionately known as “Keshawn”; 4 nieces, Shamonica Owens, D’nae Owens, A’Leslie Lucas and A’Leah Lucas; great nephew, DeJuann Jones, Jr.; aunt, Mary (Dorcenia, Jr.) Brazle; uncle, Terry (Glenna) Gates; a host of other relatives and extended families, Boddie, Beason, Byrd, Jennings and Ren-Bods; friends, Eddie Flowers, Mark Epps, Damon Jones, Ralph Smith and family, Dionysus Petty and family, Lawanna Moore, Sharon Matthews, Sharon House-Stockman, Bundy Street family, friends @ Tickle Me Pink and New You Hair Salon, Northwestern Wildcats “Class of 1977”, many special friends at DHS and Bryant Middle School. Mrs. Owens-Flowers was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Bernice Owens; grandparents, Eld. Jimme (Ida Mae) Gates, Bishop Leslie Owens, Sr., and Adell (Vera) White. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren of Flint 5th Floor ICU Nursing staff, Pastor Phillip J. and First Lady April Thompson, the entire Bethlehem Temple Church family, Sis. Freddie Lewis and family and Bethel Apostolic Church family.
